I'm just wondering what meds people have tried to help this problem. Did they help or not?

I tried topamax. It worked great for my appetite/night eating, but it made me horribly irritable. Maybe that's because I get irritable without it anyways. I'd still recommend it (in my completely unprofessional opinion) because was very effective curbing my eating. I also have bipolar disorder and I think that was one of the reason my pdoc said to try it - it can be a mood stabilizer, too. May not work for everyone...

i also tried topamax along with ssri drug whose name im completely blanking on. plus i tried ambien and something else that only made me eat more and eat in my sleep. it was complete disaster. right now i'm off everything. i couldnt handle how lazy and unmotivated i started to feel. and i was super giddy all the time so much so that friends and family would comment on how strange i was acting. i just felt like i was in a fog all the time.

Zoloft, of course. I took Zoloft for about 5 months. I was taking 200 mg everyday, so pretty high dosage.

I felt pretty funny on the topamax, too. I figured it would subside, though, but I never gave it the chance because of the irritability. Zoloft didn't do a thing for me. Not at all, but at least there weren't bad side effects, too. I'm on Lexapro, and aside from the fact that I'm overcoming my med resistance (as in I just started telling my pdoc the truth and not down-playing my depression like I used to) it's doing fine. I'm still depressed, but better than before and we're working on it. Really, anything that increases serotonin should help, if my sources are correct (see the article I wrote under the articles tab near the top). There are natural ways to do this too. 5htp for sure. Maybe tryptophan and melatonin, but you should read the article for info on that. I forget which turns into which, like which comes first.

I have been on 200 mg of Topamax combined with 0.5 mg of Mirapex. Talk to your doctor. It needs to be tapered up very slowly. And yes, there is the feeling of irritability and complete retardation at first. They seem to go away as time goes along. But this has been the only thing that was able to help me.
