I am so glad I found this group! Wink Here is my story....

When I was about 14, I started moving around at night going to the fridge and getting pop. Sometimes I was somew what aware of what I was doing but it is like I are in a gream state and could not stop myself. All very bizzare, or sometimes I was not aware at all. I would wake up because I would feel the cold pop spill all over me. In the morning, I would look at my night stand and there would be like 6 empty cans of pop sitting on it with no recollection of drinking it. I was always having to wash my sheets because of it.

Then it moved it moved on to actual food just the same, sometimes I was in the dream state and sometimes I was totally unaware. Though in the dream state it was like I had to have the food to go to sleep....yes very strange. I would wake up with oreos all over my face and in my bed, cereal spilled all over, then there is the peanut butter. I would have spoons on my night stand where I had scooped peanut butter out of the jar all night, but got a new spoon each time. Everyone one, including family would tease me about it, I would just joke along with them. Though, I was totally depressed about it and felt out of control. I felt like I had to starve myself the next day so I wouldnt gain weight. I finally saw Montell Williams show and saw people that actually had the same disorder I did. I went to see a doctor, but he just wanted to do a sleep study. Nothing ever really came out of it. To this day at age 30, I still struggle with it. I have periods of times where it is worse than others. I still get up and eat!!

I was diagnosed with Lupus March of this year, after having to have a paracardial widown (sp) and surgery on my lungs due to fluid. It almost died because of all the inflamation. Was in ICU, it has sure been a journey. I am all types of meds, one being prednisone and it is made me gain weight. So, with the night eating and the pred...I feel totally out of control to say the least.

Does anyone take an actual med for this? I have read that there are medications but after getting nowhere years ago, I gave up trying to get help. It is so embarrassing as well.......

Sorry it was so long, thanks for listening

Angela

Hi there.

I also suffer from this bizarre disease, and like you..it is worse some times and not so bad other times.

I have yet to find any meds that work, or anything for that matter.

I just joined this website and was hoping somebody would let me know what they have tried, or some steps I could take to get this under control.

Happy Halloween and hang in there.

Hopefully someone out there will give us some advise...
