Hello, and I hope that you are still with us.

I am sorry that you are struggling with your NF. I am assuming you are dealing with surface fibromas and/or multiple CALS that, or other noticeable disfigurements? I would like to learn more about you and your particular experiences so that I can help support you.

I know that for those who have to deal with the more visible aspects of NF, it can be quite devestating. I also know that it doesn't help much when people are insensitive. No one should have to endure the cruelty that can come from people's ignorance to a condition.

I personally believe that it is both a lack of understanding, and being afraid of what they do not know that causes people to be so unkind, whether they intend to be or not.

With having NF, especially when you are experiencing what you are, it is important for you to have good, positive support surrounding you, and I hope that we can give that to you here. I also understand that it is not easy to do, but I want to encourage you to try to look within yourself... see what a wonderful person you are. Find your strength and draw upon it. Many people are blind to the hurt that they cause, and therefore you must strive all the harder to build yourself up against those hurts.

You mustn't build up a wall that shuts people out, or causes you to lose quality of life for fear of those who are ignorant and unkind in your condition, but you must find a way to build a bubble around you so that you can allow those hurts to bounce off, so they don't penetrate your self-esteem. You are a special person, don't ever forget that.

I would really like to get to know you better, and to help you through this. I don't want to see you siffering through this alone, and I want to help build you up so that you can become blind to the hurts just as those that are doing the hurting are blind to your feelings. I hope what I am trying to say makes some sense. I am having some very strong feelings for you right now, and it hurts my heart to know that you are feeling this way... No one should ever feel like they have to hide away at home.

The world can be a very ugly & hurtful place, but then there are those of us that can be beacons of light... Try to hold onto that & let your light shine. We are here for you!
