Hi everyone, due to the length of first thread, I am starting another one. But in order to save all that wonderful information in a convenient format, I have gone through all 12 pages and tried to summarize what was mentioned and who talked about it so you can figure out who to talk to if you need more information about a particular thing. If I missed anything please let me know and I will get it added back in right away.

Ok, That is the end of the summary. All ready for new ideas. If it helps to get you started the last few ideas discussed on the other thread were nerve blocks, nerve decompression (by machine and as seen on Good Morning America were both mentioned), and how climate changes effect the headaches. Please jump in with anything that has been helpful to you (or your family member) with your headaches.

THANK YOU, MARY!

This is much easier. Christina just started Celebrex 2 weeks ago in hope that it would help her joint pain with hypermobility and her migraines. It is on a three page list that I have as a migraine preventative (same meds used for NDPH). We have tried many things to help her with sleep, which she doesn't get much of, without any success. She has reported that the Celebrex is helping reduce her joint pain and she is now sleeping better. Her migraine pain has decreased from a 9 to a 4! we think this may be partially due to better sleep and possibly just because Celebrex is an anti-inflammatory. She is still on 50 mg of Elavil at night -doesn't help with sleep, just a little tiny bit with migraines, but she says she is ready to get off the Elavil 'cause it makes her shaky.

Sounds like the Celebrex is an all around good med for her! I am glad it is helping with so many different areas but especially that she is sleeping better and the headache is reduced.

I have acutally been having some luck with my current treatment. My headaches have gone from a 7-9 everyday, to a 2-4. I can actually function. I am taking 20mg of Zanaflex every night and 50,000 IU of Vitamin D once a week, that's all. I really do feel much better.

I have an appointment with my doctor later this week, I think we are going to try some thyroid treatment, my thyroid levels are the low side of normal, but he wants to try it out and see if it works.

There is an interesting study about Zanaflex helping Chronic Daily Headaches. My daughter tried it last summer. Unfortunately it didn't help her headache. When she was on it she took a 2-5 hour midday nap which was really nice because it was a break from the pain. Supposedly your body gets used to it so it might have been the mixture between the zanaflex and something else she was taking. We were always willing to give anything a try.
A new update on my daughter's recovery from her June 24 headache surgery is posted at the bottom of my profile page.
