Anyone have luck treating or diagnosing endocrine problems connected with NDPH? I noticed that low level hypothyroidism is a comorbid condition with headaches. And it is so difficult to diagnose as the TSH tests are not a reliable indicator for endocrine health. My 9 year old with NDPH started treatment for hypothroidism in October before she came down with the headaches in Feb. I just wonder if there is a connection since many times the conditions occur together. Could she has too large or too small a dose? Her body temp is usually low (96 degrees) although it has come up to 97 after several months of Armour thyroid.

I have "euthyroid sick syndrome", not regular Hashimoto's Hypothyroiditis. I am supposed to take Synthroid. I also have severe Occipital Neuralgia. I've often wondered if there was some kind of link, especially since my thyroid deficiency is atypical.

I have NDPH since July of 2004 and I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in 2000. Recently, I found out that my hypothyroid is because of Hashimoto's disease. I have been wondering if there is a connection. I have not been able to find much literature on this.

I am an MD and also had Hashimoto's and NDPH since March 2007. I definitely think there is some autominnue link - we know autoantibodies can cause multiple other syndromes. You're right there is no literature supporting this by I just think it's too cooincidental.

Since I wrote the first post so many things have changed. Mel's better at the coast -how can location affect headaches? Allergies? Sensitivies? The allergist claims it's impossible. So many variables in this mystery.

Mel's still taking Armour thyroid, but it hasn't cured her. We recently started iodine supplements - a couple drops topically in the skin. Cold hands and feet are better.

I'd love your opinion of this. Dr. Andrew Jones (The Natural Cure to Your Migraine) claims an 80% cure rate in his clinic for migraine headaches because he believes most headaches are hormone related. He uses a combination of bioidentical progesterone, omega 3, magnesium cheleates, iodine - for good thyroid function, vitamin D. Although Mel's headaches seemed to fit NDPH, after talking with the last allergist, I agree that instead of being one long headache it could be one that started because she didn't have enough sleep every morning (after being awake with a headache). So I've researched migraines and this is one of the plausable explainations that I've found. And the only real cure that I've seen. There was one other cure mentioned by someone on this site and that was also with progesterone with a Dr. Platt in a California clinic.

I'm thinking that Mel is too young (at 10) to try the progesterone. But I plan to follow up by asking for a phone consultation with Dr. Jones if our present plan (dietary changes, enzymes, probiotics and tiger balm) stops working.

There is a cure.
