(((Suzanne)))

I'm so sorry to hear her headache returned when you arrived home!!! (IF the return trips to Port Aransas continue to prove relief...I'd consider the move to!!!)

For us, the weather increases pain...either way...hot or cold.

I wish we'd find a destination where relief were obtained....that doesn't include a hospitalization w/DHE and tons of meds!!!

Take Care and I hope she feels better soon!

Has anyone tried arthritis meds, like Celebrex? My daughter has hypermobility and a lot of joint pain. Celebrex is apparently used for migraines and she would like to try it and maybe get relief for both!

I tried an NSAID, but I don't remember which one (or ones). It didn't work for me, but it is probably worth trying especially since it might help with the hypermobility pain anyway.

The only thing to ask about that may not be addressed on the regular side effects is rebound headaches. My general practitioner gave me the NSAIDs (as well as other stuff) and I don't think he was aware of that potential problem at all when he was prescribing the meds, but I am aware of it now.

I try to research stuff first so I understand things...I can't do anything without knowing why! I know she won't be able to take Ibuprofen. I'm just concerned about Celebrex and the increased risk of stroke...if that applies to her age group. She is at an increased risk already because she has migraines w/aura and can't take BCPs. In the past there was a lot of publicity about Celebrex and Vioxx re: heart attacks & strokes. Rebound h/a are frustrating!!! You need the meds but you don't need the meds!

My 9 year old is back at the Texas coast and her headache is gone again. It comes back with a math problem or 2. But the headache is not long lasting or intense. She can read and sleep for the first time since this thing started. So, for the most part this geographic cure is working. I don't know why. The temperature is not that different. The elevation change is only 750 feet or so. Maybe charged ionic air off the water? Salt with minerals? We'll give it a couple weeks this time and see if she can get well enough to do school. If it works, I guess I don't really need a why.My husband thinks we should stay on a boat so we can move about if her headache returns...

one thing to remember, vacation time is less stressful, which equals less headaches. so we all may feel we need to move to where we feel good. but living a normal life there is far differant then being on vacation there.

I was just on vacation and I felt the best I have in along long time. I was in St Maarten, oh yah would love to live there, but add work/school and normal stresses of life and I bet they would come back .

We live in what should be a vacation for a 9 year old. Horses, dogs, goats, swimming, movies. She couldn't do school so we just tried to relax and do the things she enjoyed for the last couple months. Of course doctor visits are stressful. But none of the things she loved here worked. What is it on the water that makes a difference for you and for her? Is anyone else better on the water?

I wasn't better on the water when I went to Florida last time because the weather is so different everyday so I found the pressure a killer. But the time before, I was better than in Toronto!

I agree w/ jacee that vacations are better for your head. During the summer when I had 0 stress (no school and not many doctors appointments) and it was still the same but when I went to Africa (sometimes on the coast) I was much better, maybe because I was distracted or having so much fun I didn't have time to think about my head. What do you mean by staying on a boat?

Good Luck and I really hope her headache won't come back!

Jonathan

on the water as in? boating? vacationing near the water?

I was on a cruise ship and I felt pretty good . when I was out on the deck sun tanning I had a bit of a hard time. the sun is so intense down there. but other than that I only had 2 migraines, 1 on the flight down and 1 one night after being in the sun from 8 am til 4ish.. it was too much I over did it.

But other than that like you said.. i was tooooooo busy having fun to care about my head.. it hurt at times but I wasnt allowing it to take over my vaca..

Now IF only I liked work enough to do the same here. If I am vusy and chatting it up with co workers I am good. that part is fun,

Try using a decompression machine: http://images.google.com/images?q=decompression%20machine&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
