It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Hi, my names Nick Ive had a headache for over 2 years. It used to be bad, It has got better over time, then bad...it really fluctuates. Bottom line it sucks! Im only 18, and it started when I was 16. Had every test done, and been to every doctor, been on meds that didn't work and refuse to take any. Liquid IBprofen does work sometimes, but pills never do. Nothing used to work. Only relief I get is working out, headache is pretty mcuh gone, then I get a bad one after I work out most of the time. My sleep is a relief too. I never wake up because of it or anything, but I always wake up with one and go to bed with one. Nobody understands what its like, nobody thinks you can have a headache 24/7/365...but you can! I guess its nice to see others with my same problem, the few that we are. I also see that I don't have it that bad at all, I feel real bad for some of you. Im currently in the Marines and shipping off to bootcamp in a little under 2 months. I can't wait to see how my headache reacts. Anyways thanks for reading!

Hi Nick, Welcome to the forum. I can certainly understand how hard it is to try to explain to people that you really can have a constant headache for a long time. Some people seem to get it, others have real trouble with that concept.

I find it really interesting that your headache likes exercise. Mine seems to get worse when I exercise (not that I do it much). I hope your headache likes boot camp well enough that it will just fade out and leave you alone (or at least mostly alone) while you are there.

I often (but not always) find that mine get better with exercise. Exercise is actually well known to help with chronic pain. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chronic-pain/AR00017

Ya it gets really bad after exercising....like sometimes real bad, I hate it thats why sometimes I don't want to exercise. Someof you guys should try taking liquid IBprofen in works sometiems for me and its amazing. It will either make it real dull or get rid of it for a few hours which if awesome! I also don't notice the headache when im really preoccupied. That is also a good thing because I can still live life. I block this headache out all the time and eccept it. I don't ever let it control me. I live as if I don't have pain and it gets easier everyday. I just thank god that I have my health as it is and nothing more severe. I would take a headache over any other pain or disease/cancer...anything. When my headaches bad I just think of people who have it worse off. If you think about it, we have nothing to cry about...after all its just a headache. Not to be harsh but I hope some of you see where Im coming from.

Oh, I do feel your pain. I look forward to taking a sleeping pill and going to bed at night. I have had a persistant headache since April 2006 do to scar tissue from 6 shunt revisions. I too have been on any drug they could throw at me. I don't have a migraine, so that type of medicine does not work. I just found a new neurologist, hopefully he can help, I will let you know. God Bless

You are right! Hang in there Nick. Keep up the great attitude! When relief comes, even though it may be short, it is such a pleasurable experience.

Hey Nick, my headache usually gets worse with exercise - I used to exercise a lot despite that (just tried to ignore it), but since my headache has got worse it's got to the stage that just walking up the hill to my house is way more painful than it should be so going for a run isn't really an option for me at the moment.

Strange how we all react differently. Good luck with boot camp.
