Hello, everyone.

I just came from the neuroligist and was doing some research online. She casually diagnosed me with New Daily Persistent Headache. Wow, what a scowl I gave her, I mean did I really just give her $50 for her to tell ME that I have a headache everyday??? My headache were a Christmas present this past winter and they haven't went away since. I ruled out sinus infection, migraine, and the MRI showed no brain tumor or anuerysm. What a relief!! So why the hell does your head hurt, everyone kept asking. No meds seemed to help so I went to a pain clinic. I've just spent $1000 on chiropractic and physical therapy that did help my headaches. But as soon as I quit goig three times a week and became active again, they got worse and worse. So to the specialist I went. I was mostly expecting her to tell me I have migraines and give me some topomax, but she came up with new daily persistent headache. Who knew? Of course, I had to look some stuff up before I start dosing myself with strings of medication and I am relieved to find that there is a group of folks out there to talk to. She prescribed prednazone and I am honestly terrified to take it but its only a short course. Anyone tried this to "break" the headahe? That's it from me!!

Yeah, I tried the dose pack of prednisone twice...it didn't work either time. I didn't have the side effects that were listed on the package so that was at least positive. I did put up a pretty big fight trying not to take it because of the potential side effect but obviously I gave in when the pain got back enough. I hope it works for you!

Hi, Welcome to the forums. I tried prednisone. It didn't work for me, but apparently it helps some people. I did have some of the side effects and didn't quite finish the round of prednisone but nothing really terrible happened to me.

I am interested that the physical therapy did help you while you were doing it. Realistically you can't go three times a week for the rest of your life, but that means they were doing something right. I think I would try to figure out what it was that worked so that you could do it yourself.

Oh, by the way don't be shocked if you get the topamax thing soon too. Those were the first two things my neuro started with...he gave me a choice of topamax or prednisone and I asked for both at once. The topamax dose started so low it didn't really count anyway.

Best of luck with the prednisone. I hope it works well for you.

Acupuncture sometimes works. It really can help with the nausea.
