Hi everyone,

We now have an appointment for Ryan (hubby) to see Dr. Rozen on May 7th. He will no doubt be admitted to the hospital for the standard 2 weeks while they try to kick the headache. This will be his second try in a hospital setting, but the first at MHNI and first time seeing Dr. Rozen. We are hopeful but not expecting a miracle!

I will keep you posted on his progress and if anyone has any questions once we've been there, please ask.

Will anyone else be there at the same time? (May 7-20)

I will be there on the 17-19th. I am going to try to make it out to play a couple of rounds of golf, great golf in Ann Arbor! To my understanding (at least for me), the first visit is a long interview with many people (nurses,docs...)so they can make their OWN diagnosis and then they get you back to do the long-term stay if it is right for you. I can't do the long term thing until summer because I can't miss any school.

Good luck,

Jonathan

Ryan had a phone screening with a nurse last week and was told to plan on being hospitalized based upon his history. That, of course, is subject to change once he is seen by the Dr's. Since we live in Texas and they understand that, if hospitalization is what they want to try, he will get in immediately. The lady who made the appointment for him has already put in a request for bed for those dates. You are right though, the first day is supposed to be a long day of health history, disgnostics, etc. He has a big work project coming up so he needs to do his time now.

Hope your appt goes well, Jonathan.

I was just given an appt in Hopkins - thanks to someone's cancelation - one month. They are supposed to be really good. So, I'll tell you guys still interested in Hopkins how it is. It may be closer and just as good as the dr rozen clinic.

I am interested in having as much information about as many clinics as we can on the forum because sooner or later someone will come looking for it. I know I was looking for all sorts of info on different clinics for a while. (I am being lazy right now and not planning to go anywhere...subject to change without notice. )

It also helps when someone is planning to go to a particular place to have some idea of what to expect and any little hints to make things run smoother. So by all means share your experiences at MHNI, Hopkins, Jefferson, Diamond and anywhere else. Then if I ever do decide to go somewhere I will know something about each of them.

My husband went for 2 weeks. When you go they eval you and then decide if you are a candidate for inpatient treatment. Be sure to make sure your insurance will pay. We flew him there from FL only for our ins to deny the inpatient stay which ended up costing us $16K They did break the pain cycle and sent him home with meds that worked for about a month and then stopped working. Once we got home they would not really talk with us, they wanted us to follow up with our local doc and have them call MHNI everytime we were there for an office visit. I was unhappy with the follow up and of course the fact that my husband wasn't permanently helped. I dont want to discourage you thought. Everyones case is different and I think anything is worth a try.

We have BC for insurance and the Chelsea Hospital is in-network there. We were told that he is covered for the stay.

So sorry that you had such a bad experience. We hope that doesn't happen to him. I'll keep everyone posted as to our experience.

They did tell us that there isn't a 100% chance he will be admitted, but based on his history, he is "likely" to be admitted. We'll see.

I was on MHNI's website and found a good link:

On NDPH: http://www.mhni.com/faqs_ndph.aspx

They also have a video but doesn't really say much.

Also, Does anyone know if you get your own room at Chelsea for Inpatient care?
