MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Hi, it's Sarah. My wonderful, caring mother posted a while back that I had been voted most likely to have a headache. While my friends got a kick out of that statement, they weren't the ones that made up that title. I made it up, only joking (I guess I didn't make that very clear Smile). A few months ago, I made the decision that I was going to try my hardest to not let my headache affect my personality or attitude, because, to be honest, I don't really see the point in mourning over my own pain. Sure, having this constant headache sucks, but what's the point in letting it bring me down? Being upset or depressed isn't going to cure me. Instead of being upset, I think about how lucky I am because I didn't have to drop out of school, or that I don't have cancer or any other life-threatening disease. Yeah, I will have days that I will cry because my head hurts, or days that I will be bitter because I can't eat my favorite foods, but I will continue to be my bubbly, joking, talkative self and look on the bright side. There really isn't any other way to go about this situation, is there?

That's the spirit!!! I'm really relieved to know that you made it up, because it sounded really insensitive to me.

It's really good to hear that you are remaining positive despite your situation. A lot more of us need to follow your advice!!

Take care!!

Way to go, Sarah! Although she's never voiced it in the way that you just did, I think my daughter (now almost 23, but 16 when her headache started) has made the same decision as you about not letting this get her down or change who she is. I think that you gals are amazing! I tell people that my daughter is my hero; I'll bet your mom feels the same way about you. You set a good example for all of us. Take care!

Great attitude! I can very much relate to that. In my opinion, my attitude and perseverance have been the most helpful in this journey, much more so than any doctor or treatment. There are always things which remain to be thankful, and I think focusing on those instead of the negatives is the way to go. Best wishes.

Hi Sarah, great to hear from you! I'm so pleased you have such a fantastic attitude. Well done Smile This isn't an easy thing to deal with and it's OK to feel sorry for yourself and down from time to time. I'm glad you are trying to make the most of the situation. Please come and post whenever you feel like you need to.

Sarah,

Its great to hear that you have decided to deal with your headache in a positive way. Negativity and depression certainly don't help your situation, as you have noticed, and I'm sure there are things in your life that you can try to focus on that can make you happy at times. Sure, I bet we all have times where we have to cry because the pain is just too bad, the trick is not to get stuck in that pattern.

You have amazing willpower for a girl your age, I admire you!

It is good to hear that you are able to keep your spirits up. That is half the battle with headaches. I have been told by people that they can't believe that my head hurts that bad because I am so bubbly. It hurt me at first but then I took it as a compliment. I told them if I acted as bad as I felt then noone would want to be friends with me.

It is hard to have a positive attitude all the time but it sounds like you are on the right road.

Keep posting your uplifting messages.
