MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

I had my permanent ONS surgery @ five weeks ago and during my recovery my neurologist prescribed DHE injections. I have been using them since then with great success, not only for common migraine, but also menstrual related migraine. I just got my period today and normally I would be in migraine hell, but no, just menstrual cramps that naproxen sodium helps.

The nurses at the hospital showed me how to administer the injection and it is very easy. You can use it up to 3 times a day, but I tend to only need it once. The recommended max is 6ml per week, with each injection being 1ml. The best part about it is that apparently DHE doesn't cause rebound like triptans and analgesics do. I suppose that is why so many headache specialist do DHE infusions for treatment refractory migraine or headache with good results.

I see my neurologist this week and can't wait to tell him how happy I am. I am going to suggest I do the IV 5 day treatment, as I suffer from NDPH and migraine, and see if we can get my pain down to zero for the first time in ages.

Glad this has worked for you! I've never found a doctor willing to let me do injections at home or willing to support doing any infusions. So, I've only tried the DHE nasal spray. I didn't know about the no rebound risk. Interesting. Best wishes.

Is the stomach the only place it can be injected? Do you know if it can be injected into your leg as another option?

I'm glad the injections are working for you. Definitely give the infusion a go. They were helpful for me, even if only in the short term. Just watch the nausea though it is pretty severe with the infusion and it can make your BP drop quite a bit too.
