My daughter has NDPH since Nov 17th, 2006. Has anyone heard of pH levels being acidic (5.8 were normal is 7)?

Thanks,

Hi Phohos and welcome to the forum, Sorry to hear that your daughter is suffering with this. I haven't answered your post before because I have never heard anything about pH levels being related to headaches at all. I actually haven't heard of pH levels since I took chemistry (whenever that was) so I have no idea if there is a link there or not. How do you test the pH level? Is there a way to adjust your pH with diet or medication? I am clearly new to this, but I can't say that there is not a link. As far as I know no one has ever researched it. Maybe someone else knows more about this than I do (they can't really know less) and will chime in, but I am very curious about this since it sounds like a significant difference from normal.

The test is done with litmus as either urine or saliva. The only thing that I read was that acidic levels (e.g. low pH level) reduce absorption rates preventing the objective of many drugs. This is also related to stomach issues. Somehow this all ties to the liver and kidney. By the way, thanks for the quick reply.

I did a little searching on it and it is hard to find solid articles about it. I can find a lot of people selling stuff, but not much info that is just info and not an advertisement. Their info may be accurate, but I am always more suspicious when they are trying to get my money. I can't find anything specifically on NDPH (not surprising) and almost nothing about headaches in general (that is surprising)related to pH. Yet another thing that needs research. What I did find seemed to say that you can adjust your pH with diet changes and gave vauge references to digestion and absorption problems like you mentioned. It didn't go into detail about how that works (I was hoping something would, though I am not sure I would understand it if it did, I am not having a very smart day) or about how that effects other organs.

Has your daughter been able to get her pH level closer to normal? If so has it made any difference in her pain levels?
