Hi All,

I just realized that today marks the ten year anniversary of dealing with this monster. Ten years of fighting, of medications, neurologists, and surgery to battle the headaches.

I was standing on a hockey field at boarrding school in Baltimore and the other team turned into purple spots. I montioned to the coach to take me out and went to the nurse for my migraine medicine. From that day to this I have been battling this horrible monster known as chronic intractible migraine/ New Daily Persistent Headache.

I have tried preventatives, abortives, triptans, radiofrequency, and the best treatment to date is an implanted occipital nerve stimulator. It's hard to believe that I have been fighting it so long.

Celebrating with a headache that ranks at a 7/10, and attempting to study for an English test.

I just can't believe it has been that long.

Pain free days,

sailingm

Wow, 10 years! I'm just approaching my 1 year anniversary and I can't imagine dealing with this for so long. Of course, I remember when my headache first hit me, I thought "I sure hope this gets resolved soon, because I can't imagine being in this much pain for more than a few days." I guess we just deal with what we have to, (not that we have much of a choice!) Good luck to you, Lana

I'm so sorry that you have that milestone... in fact, it really discourages me to hear it... it will be 3 years for my dd in February. When she was first diagnosed, she was told it should last between 18 months and 3 years... now I have not heard from one person who has been headache free....

It is rather scary isn't it. I have heard of people who are headache free or at least close to it on their meds. That is my new goal. If I somehow get a miracle and end up headache free completely I would take that too.

SailingM, I am sorry that you have had this thing for 10 years. I have not even had it for two yet, but I am thoroughly sick of it. I hope that somehow you don't have a 15 year headache anniversary, though I have no idea what new thing they would need to come up with to stop your headache.
