I was just wondering if anyone has been tested for Lyme Disease or does your doctors dismiss the posibility? I'm going to push to have my daughter tested because I think it could fit. I might have to pay for it myself or end up changing Doctors if I can't get things moving. Just curious if others have thought the same thing. I guess a lot of those cheaper screening test show up wrong negatives. There is a Lyme Diesease support group here at MD Junction that I've been visiting as well and I'm very interested in this connection.....

I got a lyme disease test and it was negative. You would have to have ticks to have it and also it only in some areas. It is unlikely that your daughter has it but talk to your doctor.

I'd be interested in knowing your daughter's results. I've never had Lyme Disease, but oddly enough, my mother had it while she was pregnant with me... We'd wondered if it had a connection to my headaches.

What all have you found about the two?

I've been tested for it three times now, (all by different doctors) they've all been negative.

I don't think I have been tested for it. I haven't had any suspicious tick bites though I do live in an area where it is a possibility. I know the tests for Lyme are notoriously inaccurate but are the best they have at this point. Still I hear of them being wrong all the time. It isn't very reassuring.

I think the reason my doctors didn't test me (and still haven't) is because I haven't had any of the other symptoms usually associated. I just had the headache. I didn't even get sick when I got it so there were not flu symptoms or muscle or joint pain, rash, fatigue or any of that for me. If I had had that stuff they might have wanted to test for it.

If your daughter does have other symptoms that fit lyme disease then I would definitly keep asking about it or ask them why they have ruled that out. The doctors may have a good reason to have ruled it out, but they should be able to explain why.

If anyone was wondering, my doctors refuse to test me for it because they think it highly unlikely to not have the red circle. Just because I didn't see it doesn't meen it's not there though. They don't quite understand that. i'm going to start talking with some other kids who have Lymes to see if they are or were in a similar situation. Thank's for the feedbacks guys!

Goonybgood,

Yes, on the Lyme Support board there is girl that answered one of my post that said her mother was able to prove, through the director of this special lab, that you can pass Lyme to your unborn baby. Yep, you have to go over and read the post. My name over there is beckyhelpsmany, and read through the post and sypmtoms. I guess you can pay to have the test done at these special labs yourself. I'm considering it because I think it is important enough to find out.

From what I have read the rash is not always present, though it often is. I would be concerned if you have a lot of the other associated symptoms...not to mention it has been so long that if you did have a rash in the begining it probably would have faded by now. Maybe when you get a new neuro ask if he will order a lyme test just to make you feel that all bases have been covered.

Monday- The PCP has agreed to Lyme testing. Now to pray that the results are true and not worry about any false negatives. I'm definately going to pray hard about this so that I can move on to other ideas.
