MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Hi,

My name is Becky, I am 35 married with 3 kids. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy many years ago, but I am hard headed and did not want to take the meds that would help me. Well now I am paying the price of my decission. My family is slowing growing apart and I am not sure hopw to fix this. I did not realize that it was a hurting everyone as much as it was. I am need of some real advise on how others handle issues like teenagers and friends, and marriages with physicial relationships. I do see a counselor but he doesnt always give info on how to deal with things and how to achieve happiness while living with narcolepsy. Your input and advise is welcome with open arms.

Many thanks,

Becky

my name is sheri. i was diagnosed at 17 and am now 33. i have a 5 yr old and am divorced. i have opted out of taking the meds. i have tried biofeedback and have achieved a certain successs. it is expensive since i have no insurance but i like it better than the meds. i had too many bad side effects wit the meds. i have learned that the only true friends are the ones that listen to me about the narcolepsy and atleast try to understand. they know that it is something that i cant help. as far as your therapist goes...he will never be able to totally help you because as much as hee thinks he knows what you aare going through, the truth is the only people who know what it is like for you are those who live with it too. my old dr used to tell me that he understood and he knew how i felt but he didnt. he didnt like it when i told him that. noone knows until they live a day in our shoes no matter how close they are. they will never know how we struggle everyday to complete some of the simplest tasks. it is hard on a family. i have been fortunate to be blessed with a family that atleast understands that i cant help falling asleep... in the mddle of conversations, at the dinner table, while watching tv, etc. i hope we can communicate and help each other. sheri

God Sheri that all sounds so much like me. I went to the doc today and the biggest thing he said was I am not crazy this is all out of my control. I need the help to obtain some balance. It would be great to share our stories with each other and get new perspectives on how to deal. Becky
