my good friend has narcolepsy. he's 43 years old. his memory is so bad he has to write things down on paper. he doesn't remember things we are going to do together, the next day after i tell him. is memory loss related to narcolepsy? also, he goes to a pulmonologist for his narcolepsy. wouldn't going to a neurologist help?

As far as the memory problem, I too have problems with my short term memory. At work, I walk around with a legal pad and write everything on it. I joke and call it my brain! I don't know the answer about the type of MD. I see a sleep MD. He is neither a neuro or pulmo.

I too have memory problems. This may seem far-fetched, but I have come to correlate my level of wakefulness to recall. If I'm extremely tired, do something, I will not remember it when I am more awake later in the day, but the next day or so when I am in the same state, it will pop into my head. If I could suggest, if you want to remind your friend of something like golf at 8:00am, you will probably not have much luck asking about it say at 5:00pm in the afternoon, ask approximately the same time of day as you planned.
