I have just joined this group, I will be tested for narcolepsy next week. I am not sure if I have it, but the more I read about people's different experiences the more nervous I get. If I remember now, in school I could never stay awake, no matter how hard I tried, so whatever I have must have been with me for a while. Today my symptoms are excessive daytime sleepiness, which I believed was normal for years. What I am discovering though, is most people do not start dreaming before they fall asleep or when they are unbearably tired while driving, at work, in a movie, or conversation, etc. I have been in one major car accident falling asleep on the way to work. No matter how I tried I could not stay awake, my eye's often become crosses while driving or even talking, I feel and move as if I am drinking. Now that I think about it, I believe I have become accustom to this and maybe it's a problem. I hope someone can give me feedback

I am also a recovering addict who has been clean for a while. Unfortunately people often think I am using because of my behavior and it's very frustrating. When get tired I mix dreaming with reality, I can hardly keep my eye's open. Otherwise I am very healthy and in great shape, I eat great and workout all the time. I display 90% of all the symptoms, but don't recall those of catalepsy. The worst that happens is I walk around like I am drunk. I am looking for feedback.

I hope someone can help, thanks.
