i was diagnosed with narcolepsy and lately vie been VERY forgetful….. like ill be awake and doing normal stuff and then all of a sudden wont remember how i got there and wont remember what i did…. example: today i was sitting in my chair working on homework and then suddenly the homework was gone and an empty bowl was in its place. it turns out i finished all of my homework and then my sisters boyfriend came over with ice-cream and i sat and talked to my family and ate three bowls of ice-cream…… but out of all that i remember starting homework and holding an empty bowl…. do any other narcoleptic people get this??? Unsure

Its ok, it happens to me too, my sister plays tricks on me with to just for a laugh. Like if we are out for dinner and she can't eat all her food she just puts the rest of it in front if me and i keep eating it beacuse i have no recollection if i have finished mine.

Or if i have finished drinking a drink,or using the computer.

Oh definitely happens to the best of us. I find it best to just make fun of myself. I call it 'narc-ing out'. For me, it's usually harmless stuff but I've forgotten I've already taken my meds and re-dosed. Now I have a system in place to prevent that from happening.

Oh yeah! Happens all the time! My life is controlled by post it notes and computer reminders!! Now, if I could just read my own handwriting and remember what I meant by the message on the post it, I'd have it made!
narcolepsy, osteoarthritis, migraines, edometriosis, bursitis, fibromyalgia, sciatica from lower back deformity, dry eyes, menopause, and recurrent adhesive capsulitis.

not an expert, just know what has worked for me so far!

I think of it as having an occasional dropped stitch in my knitting!

Thank you, reading these posts makes sense to me as I'm forever being told I'm forgetful, sleepy and stupid...I just think there's something wrong as I need to sleep ALL the time, I've even fallen asleep at my desk at work before!

I don't want to see my doctor about it though, because I don't think people with narcolepsy are allowed to drive, and having my car makes my life possible! Without it I'd be stuck inside four walls 24/, unable to go to work (which is 25 miles from where I live), unable to see friends, do the grocery shopping etc. etc.

I will keep reading posts here to see if they sound similar to what I'm experiencing, and then I will see if I'm brave enough to go to my doctor about it. It's just too scary at the moment.

Through supporting and helping each other, we can all thrive and survive!

I had my license taken away and have to try and depend on others to help me. I did lose my job because i kept having episodes and could no longer take care of my patients. I have been fighting SSA since Oct 2010 and am waiting without income had to leave my apartment and moved in with my boyfriend, but I AM ALIVE! If you do not go to the doctors you may be driving and have an episode and kill yourself and someone else. So Go!
