I posted a response to you, but it's under another one of your posts. In case you didn't receive it, I'm reprinting here for you. God bless your family. Here it is: Wow, I've not heard of a child so young having a thymectomy, but my MG is not of the congenital nature. Yes, I had a thymectomy in 2000. The procedure used was the transsternal split (like open-heart surgery). I've heard of laproscopic methods, also. When is your little one scheduled for surgery? To a child this will make no difference, but I've had 16 operations...the worst of those knee and abdominal...and can honestly tell you that a thymectomy was easier in reference to post-op pain and recovery. I don't mean to make this sound like a cake-walk--it's not--but a child is more resilent so I will be praying she is one tough little girl and tolerates the surgery well.
