So, understanding how MG can often be found with other autoimmune disorders, does anyone else have a B-12 deficiency with Intrinsic Factor Antibodies?

I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency last month. I have no idea if it is related to my MG. I am so fatigued, so my Dr. tested for a B12 deficiency. I did one shot a week for a month. I am now on the one shot every two week cycle and will then go to once a month. I have noticed no improvement from the shots. I was told and have read that it sometimes takes one month to notice a difference, I am going on 6 weeks since my first shot.

My husband's B-12 levels were in the 150s, but he has no problems with the antibodies in his stomach. I don't know what caused that... He had 5 daily shots then 1 month intervals. His first month is just passing. There was a huge upswing in energy in the beginning (first day or two), but it died off.

Does your Dr think it's related?

PS... We thought there was a problem with his b-12 receptor antibodies, but there wasn't.

I wasn't really given a clear answer if they thought the B12 deficiency was related to the MG. When I started the shots, my blood pressure went up. They think that is a coincidence. My readings were steadily anywhere from 189/96 to 146/89. I started taking BP meds and it has gone down to the 120's and 130's.

I have MG and also am taking one shot a month of B12. When it is time for my next shot I can tell because I am so extremely tired to where I don't to get out of bed. I get the B12 shot and I feel so much better.

Hello!

Does your doctor have to prescribe B12? Does it really help you all?

I have been feeling very fatigued lately (more than usual MG stuff) and I was wondering if B12 would help.

Thanks!

Leah

Again I am a little late to the game, but I also have a B12 issue. From almost day one my doc has had me on 1000 ml of B12 pills that dissolve under my tongue. It seems to help!

I have MG and a nasty B12 deficiency (it was 120 when they finally figured it out). I just take the cyano---- b-12 shots, and those help a lot I did have to take them more frequently than the normal dose.

If you have MG you will be deficiency in B12 and probably in other B vitamins. Herre is a list of others you are probably low in

Lecithin, 3 tbsp.

Vitamin B complex, 50 mg three times daily

Vitamin E, with mixed tocopherols, 400 IU twice daily

Manganese, 5 mg

Multimineral complex, as directed on label

Vitamin C, with bioflavonoids, 1,000 mg three times daily

Plus I take Fish Oil 1000 mg 3 times a day

Do I believe this works - YES

I no longer take mestinon

Imuran is down to 25 mg once a day

I have no MG issues at this time.

It has taken a over a yr but I walk 3 miles a day at a brisk pace.

I am back to studing Tai Chi and teaching again.

I no longer eat more than 5% meat a day.

No Gluten or Lactose

I am 61 in January and ive a normal life. I would say that I am in the same shape as a younger person

my weight is droping at a responable rate and by the end of next yr I will be down to 200 lb. from 360 in Feb of 2009.

If you take to your doctor they will not beleive you as the on thing they know is drugs. Doctors are program to react not to be proactive. The only thing I get from my doctor now and I no longer see a Nero just a GP, is you're looking good.

So there it is, it is working for me and others.
