Arita, It's very difficult for me because I wasn't at your appointment. There are communication problems with many patients, and lack of understanding of the condition, and I would safely say, with some physicians as well. I would feel so much better if you could take someone with you to your neurology appointment to help check your understanding. I often suggest this. In that way, you and whomever, can go have a coffee and discuss what transpired. Who knows, Arita, there could be a slight language barrier?

That said, I advocate for the patient, so I'm going to say that I don't know a doctor, who can predict that a new MG patient won't get any worse, or any better. It's nonsense. One can get worse, and one can most assuredly get better, under the proper care.

Perhaps your doctor is trying not to scare you. I firmly believe that patients should have all the information--both good and bad scenarios--so that there are no surprises.

Arita-

Another idea that I have heard on this forum is to keep a MG diary so that you can accurately tell your neurologist what is going on with you. If your neurologist can understand what your symptoms are like, he may be able to prescribe your meds to help you better.

Good luck!

Arita...if your autoimmunity is continuing to increase, this may contribute to worsening MG symptoms, providing you are taking your meds on time, daily. Other health-related and stress issues have the potential to make MG symptoms worse. This is a good question for your neurologist, however, as he/she is the one who knows your health situation and treats you.

I hope your neurologist is able to answer this question for you.
