Hi all I am not diagnosed, but have a lot of symptoms that match MS. I am not very good at explaining myself and get very stuck for words, I think this has a lot to do with my BPD. I also have Bipolar II, both these MH illnesses I have had all my life.

I have had a few very noticeable episodes, but due to being diagnosed by mental health, all the professionals either said it was anxiety (as it happened while out) or psychosomatic (just crazy), I have now changed my doctor and my MH team are listening as they now have me sort of stable (working on) and case manager turned up at my home while having an episode.

I do get very confused with my symptoms

Current issues:

Right eye, been sore for the last week,

Neck RS pulls and stiffens

RS face numbness as well as stabbing pains coming and going on my face,

Right arm constant coming and going of burning pain, heaviness & stiffness,

Right hip/leg, burning, heaviness, stiffness & stabbing pains,

Head pressure has been building this week, with an annoying very sore spot on the top left side of my skull.

Shopping is very hard, the lights, colours, movement, noise all seem to send me into an episode. Mostly my right side, but some left at times, this was why they kept saying it was anxiety.

I am also having a hard time with motion and end up having episodes in the car a lot lately just around town.

I have had one episode where I had to drag my left leg behind me as I left a government office, that night I had an episode where I lost control and became stuck on the spot and my left leg kept going back and forth, with massive brain zaps, no one believed me.

Since then, I have had a number of episode where I become stuck and unable to move or talk,

I feel like I have earth quakes happening in my body with lots of after shocks most days.

I have just found out that I will have to wait from 6 months to a year to see the Neurologist, I just feel so lost Sad

Sorry there is a lot more, but still trying to work it out myself Wink

Hi there. I have bipolar too and I had the same problem getting people to listen to me. In January, I experienced numbness in the left side of my body with temperature sensitivity. A family member said it was psychosomatic. Then my gp took a blood test and prescribed Vitamin D. Well I finally developed symptoms no one could ignore and had the mri and it shows about 75 lesions. Hopefully some of them will heal once I start my med treatment, which is next week.

I'm so sorry you're getting similar treatment. I wonder if you should be more insistent with your gp so he could get you an appointment sooner. That''s an awful long time. Sad

I learned I should have been more pushy.

Good luck, Soy

Hi light. I am married to an LPC, who works high in our mental health field here in our state. So, I hear a lot about all sorts of mental illness. I also know it is hard for people to treat as they would anyone else. So I am sorry for that.

I have OCD, which is a confirmed dx for me. Took me years to admit I had a problem. But since admitting it, I am getting help. The funny thing is, my LPC husband didn't push for me to get help. I would talk about it all the time. He just doesn't treat me. That area is on my terms which in the long run is best for the relationship.

That is an awfully long time to wait. Where do you live?

I hate to say, but yes all your symptoms sound very much like MS. We get a lot of people that come here running their symptoms by the others, and often I think yes to most everything, but a symptom or two doesn't quite ring true...to MS. But yours, yep, all ring true....especially the heaviness. There are words that with MS we just naturally use to describe things...that is one of them.

I have had fatigue so bad, I literally could not move one area of my body. I just stopped and had to have others help me get to a quiet place where I could rest. It has been years since then, but used to happen all the time....when I was out around a lot of movement, sounds, etc.

There is so much you can do for yourself. The first and most important thing is to rest and not stress about anything. That will help your mental illness too as stress exacerbates things.

Then I would start taking vitamin D and a good amount. I take 10,000 IU's a day (which is what you get with 20 min of sun.) It won't cure you. But it will take the edge off and quiet things down....some.

Hope today you are feeling better.

- Cindy

I am not a health care professional. Having lived with MS for many years, I have tried many things; some worked, some didn't. Anything and/or everything I might say is truly only my experience and opinion. Anything new you try, please run it by your doctor.

Harp, I do wonder so much about my symptoms, they are changing. 2 days after that I had different symptoms,

Mid back & Sacral: sharp/shock/burn pain, lasting up to 10 minutes, coming and going through out the day. It feels like it grabs me and the longer lasting ones hold me in that position.

Hip & knee RS: sore & stiff.

Thigh & upper arm RS: deep tightening, holding for up to 5 min, quiet regular through out the day.

Ankle: became irritated/sore & unable to walk on in the evening, lasted for about an hour. Still a bit weak.

Still having head pressure, coming and going through out the day.

I also became fatigued after doing a few thing around the house in the morning, I had to sit down and I yawn a lot, it feels like I am trying to get more oxygen to my brain, I just feel so drained when this happens and need to lay down.

Sorry as I said I am confused, with a lot going on and no one seems to understand.

Thanks for listening.

Yep that is pretty much how it is with MS, when it is active. The best thing you can do is rest. Only a dr can tell you for sure. But from everything I know, everything you are saying is characteristic of MS.
