MDJunction to me

Claire138"It's been a year since I joined the Parkinson's Disease Support Group on MDJunction and all I can say is thank you all for the support, compassion and friendship I've received and been able to give as well. It was a lonely night when I came upon this site, but the nights aren't that lonely anymore...
With gratitude to all...

Oh boy- holidays here again!!! Switching losing time -- feeling like when I was the tiny tot on the merry go round and it was full of kids going way fast and I held on for dear life and yelling-- I WANNA GET OFF!!!! W00t How is everyone else holding up these days? All kidding aside- it is a weary and stressful time, and I could really use some support, or a kind word or two.

Hey, how have you been? It's a stressful time of year for everyone but for some people it's really a hard time to get through. I just get so overwhelmed I want to call the whole thing off. I ask myself every year "why are we doing this?".

I fall apart when I am stressed out also and the swithing gets rapid and everyone can notice that something is wrong, the more stress I am under the more help I need to function. Is it just the season or is it an anniversary for you also? That always makes it that much worse. I have a really hard time at Easter. Sometimes I wish I could not celebrate it but it would seem odd.

This year I tried to simplify the gift giving by getting a few expensive things and not a bunch of junk to litter up my life and I tried to amplify the things I like about this season like getting together with friends and looking at lights with the kids. Tried to make it more about people than preparations. It's helped but it's still just a chaotic and hectic time.

Let's all wish for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season!

Sunny

I don't know if
I'm early or late
What is the date??
Maybe some year
I'll get this straight
Caramel for breakfast
Sugar shock
I watch the clock
Tick tick
Tock tock
I run up
You run down
Then back around
We are falling
To the ground
Pick me up
Turn me loose
I am glad
You are amused...

Oren speaking.

I agree with Sundrop.

If the stress gets too bad, try cutting a bunch of sports magazines in half and pouring gravy on a defibrulator. It worked for Sr. Cardgage.

But seriously, Sunny's got the right attitude. Yuletide is supposed to be a happy time. Enjoy it. Don't stress over it.

The writers of Dr. Who describe Christmas as a time halfway through the dark, cold winter months when we all turn to each other and say "Congratulations. We've made it halfway through the dark!" Brighter days are coming. Just keep that in mind.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go buy stocking stuffers for three adorable child alters.

We also celebrate the Winter Solstice, which is the shortest day and longest night of the year. It's right before Christmas. It's a really relaxing dinner we have with close family and usually involves a magic show or play the kids came up with and a few bottles of wine. It's a nice break in the middle of all the insanity. We usually have pasta or something simple and we make each other small gifts and cards. Everything has to be made, it takes away some of the commercialism out of our holiday season. I always look forward to it.

I try not to be stressed out but I all the time am anyway. These things help me, some of them help me a lot but nothing eliminates the stress. I just keep trying to lessen the stress as much as I can in all areas of my life.
