MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

My 15 year old son has had 3 MRSA outbreaks within a six month period. First infection was a boil on his right testicle, and was treated with antibiotics. It went away, however, a month later he got one on his left upper thigh, we had to take him to the ER for that one, he had to have it drained and was given antibiotics along with a nose ointment. They took a culture of it and it came back positive. After it cleared up, we assumed it would never return again. Now almost a month later he has developed another boil on his left inner thigh. Once again doctors have put him on antibiotics and is again doing the nose ointment. Now that I’ve educated myself a bit more on MRSA, I am extremely scared for my other two sons as well as my husband. As far as I know we do not have it.

I’ve read so many sad and scary stories to the point where I am a nervous wreck. I've stopped reading all the horror stories, because I literally feel sick to my stomach and scared that my son will end up in a hospital or even worse, dead! I feel that my son will never have a normal life again. He is on his high school track team and plays soccer too. Will all this have to stop? I want to be positive yet realistic. Will MRSA always be a part of his life or does it eventually go away? I’m so scared for him.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice anyone can give me.
