Anyone have any experience with mrsa boils?

Occasionally one of my kids gets one. Its getting to the point where I can recognize them as mrsa before I take them in to the pediatricians office. One of the drs on staff there takes them VERY seriously and treats them with bactrim antibiotics. No school until the boil is gone or atleast no longer open. Obviously, with three kids in the house, this is almost a clinical disaster! There is constant 'Don't touch me! You have the Funk!!' being yelled out loud. One kid always feels left out. We do everything we can to prevent it from spreading. No hand towels, only papertowels. No sharing bath towels. All laundry on Sanitize setting and dryed on High Heat. Constant hand washing and hand sanitizer being used. Also, I added something called Hibicleanse to our handsoap in the bathroom that is an antimicrobial. Inevitably, somehow, someway, this nasty thing finds its way back to us! It has been one year and one month and about 12 outbreaks all together, mostly on the kids. Any suggestions on how to rid ourselves of this completely once and for all???

Thanks in advance,

Jenna

Jenna, I am new here and have no vital information for you, but I just wanted to say bless your heart. It must be very difficult for a child to endure that. Hang in there,,,,,, L.

Hi! I stuggle with skin leisons cause by MRSA. What you are doing is great. Don't give up!

I changed from hibiclense to surgical scrub and the difference in healing is amazing. Then I added lysol with an industrial bleach for cleaning.

I can say I got to a point this time where my skin was almost clear for about 3 months then the infection started again in my leg.

I still have my leg and I will fight to keep it but everytime it gets more and more difficult to keep fighting and working so hard to overcome this to start over again.

Have you tried tea tree oil? I get boils usually in the groin area and use it to treat them.

Every time I go into hospital, I treat my underarms and groin area for about a week with this before I get my swabs done.It seems to have worked.

Worth a try!Dizzy

OK, I consider myself an expert. I have had MRSA since the end of 2006. Here is how I control my symptoms. (Yes, I had huge boils at the start and I have scars).

I cannot eat things that contain HEME iron. Meat, fish, poultry. If I eat a teeny bit, I get a horrible outbreak. I literally flood my body every day with good bacteria. I use my homemade kefir which contains massive numbers of good bacteria.

This is my two-prong approach. It works for me.

Hi Jenna,

I read your post and it looks like I am going through the same thing with my 3 yr old daughter. She was hospitalized with MRSA when she was 1 yr old.

It's been 2yrs now and she still gets a boil here and there every few months or so.

Recently I got worried because I realized that these boils were not leaving my child. I started to do more research and this is how I came across this support group. Now I'm learning how contagious this stuff really is. It looks like you are doing a lot to prevent outbreaks. I never knew about all of this prevention and you would think my doc. should have told me since I was pregnant with my son when my daughter got MRSA.

I guess my fam. was really lucky because none of us got it, despite the fact that we did not try to prevent out breaks by sanitizing. Don't get me wrong i think sanatizing is great, but I'm now convinced that I have to work on my daughter's immune system more than anything!

I told the doc that I want to get to the root of the problem, he suggested and anti-fungal diet for our daughter. This means no processed foods, no sugars, no flour and no dairy products. He also has her on probiotics, and trigard. Trigard is made up of 3 different elements: tee tree oil, coloidall gold and grape seed extract

I hope this will work. Further the doc. explained that it will take about 6 mos for he body to detox and for her blood to cleanse.

Lots of hugs to you and your precious children

Smile

When a product is posted here, I research it. The one mentioned in the previous post has the following disclaimer on the label.

This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Further two different Dr.s are claiming to be its originator. One in UTAH claims it only as a nutrient supplement and never mentions MRSA.

Due to these facts this product is suitable for the Holistic/Alternative group. But it is off topic in the MRSA group.
