Hello, this is my first group discussion...so please bear with me. After being wounded in Iraq when an IED (improvised explosive device) detonated underneath my vehicle, I spent 2 years at Walter Reed for surgery & rehabilitation. I am now an above knee amputee with multiple injuries, and severe PTSD. I went from being a very outgoing person that loved to go out to clubs and hang out with friends to a person that barely leaves the house, avoids contact with people, and doesn't answer the phone on a regular. I have issues with anger and anxiety, I have constant flashbacks, nightmares and night terrors, and chronic pain. I am hoping to meet fellow military members as well as civilians who have dealt with PTSD from their non-military traumas. My goal is to reach out to others in a safe, virtual environment in the hopes that we can help each other through validating and supportive conversation.
Peace & Respect,
Carla

Your first step was taken,,,,,,you shared. Sometimes sharing can have a double edged sword when it is about the actual event with other soldiers who went through the same thing, you did it safely. Congrats.

I have learned, through Sgt. Harold Schaefer of nam, to deal with my flashbacks, better, not perfectly.

When I do go to God for the 'last' time, I will ask, we went through it once what's up with this flashback shit?

I created this group, because I know how much you guys really need this. You are needed here, to help others, and heal in the process, amen to you.

God is not fair, in our earthly eyes, I have often had my scream feasts, outdoing Lt. Dan on Forrest Gump, but he always sends me to those who need it the most, and I was once told by a medicine man, that we are often placed in the worst positions at a young age, so that we can, through complete understanding help others, later on. I think God has a job for you.

I am always here,

dd aka White Wolf

Hello,

You have a veteran before you. I served from 79-84, and have ptsd due to sexual assaults. What you are experiencing in regards to ptsd is common, in which many vets have this due to our military service. I am now working issues regarding to the assaults and sexual harrassment. Are you getting any good counseling for this problem? It is important that you do. There has been alot of vets in my area using this va for military trauma counseling and meds. If there is anyway I can help you let me know. I really do thank you for serving our Country.

Terri
