MDJunction to me

fluffyluggage"I found MDJunction at a time when I was struggling with so much. I
was so sick. I found a home, a place where people understood me, when
even my family doubted me. In MDJ, I found a place of refuge, love,
and support. I come here daily, to find my balance, to cope, and to
find that same support I've found from day 1. MDJ is my new family.
The friends I've made here will remain with me for a lifetime.

Hello,

I have Fibromyalgia, Depression, PTSD, Panic, all nicely topped off with Migraines.

Long story of balance disorder, dizziness, and misdiagnosis and failure by several doctors to listen and see me and then my illnesses.

I started Lyrica April 9th to treat my Fibro pain and my doctor said it would also reduce my migraines. I feel fortunate that this medication is working for me. I spent 4 months mostly in bed with the balance problems. My ENT -- #4, said he thought my problems were from migraines and referred me to a neurologist.

I have not had a migraine in almost 2 weeks. My usual rate was 6 or more migraines a month with many lasting 3 or more days. Vestibular migraines cause balance problems. The research on these is fairly recent.

All I know is that having my Fibro pain reduced to a 1 and the reprieve from the migraines is giving a completely new quality of life. To finally find a medication that works for me makes me grateful.

I am wondering if anyone is on lyrica for other conditions and also found relief from their migraines.

Becky

My daughter was on Lyrica for migraines for about a year. At first, it actually gave her a few hours of relief from her 24/7 migraine maybe 2 days/wk. She recently stopped taking it b/c we didn't feel like it was helping much anymore. I'm happy to hear something is helping you , especially for more than one problem.Smile

Has anyone tried Celebrex?? My daughter wants to try it for her migraines and joint pain with hypermobility. I haven't heard much about it though...concerned about side effects.

I have been prescribed Lyrica for migraines but too chicken to take it. I get all the side effects and none of the benefits so far from everything. I a told its cos of the FMS.

I thought Celebrex had been taken off the market....

My husband had it for his back but they stopped prescribing.

It certainly didnt help my migraines.

Medications work differently for each person. What benefits one may not benefit another. The same goes for side effects. My bf was taking a med and had bad side effects. I took the same med and didn't get the same side effects. I had different ones.

Neurontin made me have dizzy spells at 100 mg. I know people who take 3600mg of it with no problems.

I have heard good and bad about Lyrica.

I find it very good to ask about meds on here. It will give you things to look out for when you are taking it as long as you remember that everyone responds differently.

Saf,

Did you ever try the Lyrica? Did you notice a difference?

One thing I have noticed is that many things help for many health issues even though there is no "evidence" to support it. As far as I'm concerned, if it works for me that's all the evidence I need. Wink

I am NOT a doctor. My advice is purely based on my own personal experience and study. You should always consult your doctor before messing with your meds or adding supplements.

I took it for 4 months and it helped a lot with the migraines and the muscle spasms in neck and shoulders. I hated to come off of it but I gained 20 - 25lbs in those 4 months.

I didnt try it, no. When I spoke with him again he told me that it wasn't being recommended and side effect prohibitive for its success rate. And too the effect wears off quite soon and have to find another preventative.

I can only tell it from my viewpoint....also I am in UK

Glad it helped you though.
