MDJunction to me

suebaby41"I was recently diagnosed with Recurrent Breast Cancer In The Chest
Wall. I would not be able to handle it as well as I am without the
help of my MDJunction friends. It just proves to me that there are
lots of good people in this world and I am happy to be involved with
MDJunction who seems to have most of them.

Hi, welcome to the group.

It sounds like you and your dr are focusing on meds that stop a headache once it starts. Have you tried taking any anti-siezure medications that you would take on a daily basis (topamax, zonegran, depekote etc.). You could also try muscle relaxants (cyclobenzaprine etc) or nerve relaxants (gabapentin etc.). There are so many meds out there it is rediculous. You could also try natural remedies. Vitamin B12 and magnesium deficiency can caues headaches, so taking those supplements everyday may help a bit. My dr gave me the name of another natural remedy that I can't seem to remember at the moment, but will let you know when I find it. Also, accupuncture does wonders for my headaches (unfortunately I can't go that often because it can get expensive). You could also try keeping a diary of the foods that you eat because sometimes allergies can cause headaches.

I suffer from daily chronic migraine. I have consistantly had a migraine for about a year. Tried countless meds, and found my help in Gabapentin and Nortryptline. I still have headaches quite often, and they are a pain in the butt, but I'd take pretty much anything as long as I'm not locked in my room with the curtains drawn unable to see straight puking my brains out. Now that I'm on a high dose (1200 3x a day is max, I'm at 900) the meds were working quite well and I was without a headache for most of the month. And then I was dopey and smacked my head and gave myself a concussion and now they are bad again >_<

Anyhow, welcome to the gorup. I hope you get some help that you need here.

<3 Jen

Hello Brian1996,

Welcome to the group. We have a wonderfull group of people here and I'm sure you will find alot of help and support here.

I've suffered with migraines most of my life but not often have a had mild everyday headaches but I have had them. I've since realized that they probably were rebound from some of the other meds I had to take.

It sounds like you've tried alot and also learned alot.

I look forward to getting to know you better. Take Care!

Kardie

I'm not a Dr. and anything I write is my oppinion and my opinion only. I am just like you, I'm here for support and friendship from people who understand what I'm dealing with.

It's probably a good thing that your doctor is getting you off all the analgesics to see if they are causing rebound headaches, because then you will be able to tell just what level you headache is at (if at all).

The first preventative I tried for my daily headaches was amitriptyline and I still find it beneficial today. I notice Jen (davesprettyldady) uses nortriptyline which is in the same class (TCA's - tricyclic antidepressants) but is slightly less sedating. Perhaps they are worth giving a go if you haven't already.
