MDJunction to me

"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

hello, my name is melissa and im 19 years old and just about 2 days ago my doctor diagnosed with migraines and says i have them with an aura and perscribe me maxalt 10mg. It was a shocker for me because i always thought i can never get migraines and it isnt something common in my family as well.

I always thought they were just very bad headaches that i can just sometimes just sleep off or something but soon enough it got to the horrible like a drill piercing the side of my head and i would sometimes get up in the morning and still hurts. In school it happens during class that I have to just run out the room and i just cry about it.Im not much as a pill person so it kinds of freak me out that i have to take them.

None of my friends or family even understand the pain i feel and they keep tellingme its all in my mind or its not really there. Its hard to even talk to them about and they treat me like some sort of outcast. I been on this website before for different reasons and I never knew about this group and Im glad there is one.

Hi Melissa and welcome to the group. I knoe what you mean about being scared. Migraines can be very scary especially when you are young, and feel like your family doesn't understand. It is hard to explain a migraine to someone that has never had one. I hope that your Maxalt will help you. I have never taken Maxalt, but I have read quite a lot of information from others who feel that it is a great drug and has given them their old life back---or very close to their old life back back! My sister actually just began working for the company that makes Maxalt and will begin delivering samples to hospitals and clinics in a few weeks. She feels that it is a terrific migraine drug, unfortunately I can't take it for my type of migraines. Anyway--please keep us informed with your progress you are not aone in your search for relief. If Maxalt doesn't work--there are plenty of other things to try keep plugging away!! Have a great pain free weekend!

Melissa, so glad you have found a place where others feel the same way you do. Believe me it will give you knowledge that you can share with your family and friends so they understand. Hang in there and read the posts, ask questions, and do some research on your own so you can have some peace of mind.

Hi Mellisa,

Welcome to the group. Please don't feel that you are all alone. You now have us. Believe me everyone here has went through the almost the same situation as you. I am so sorry your family does not understand. Ask you doctor for some informational pamphlets. Then give them to your family and friends...Maybe just maybe they can understand what you are going through. This is a definite condition that sooooooooo many people suffer with. I also suffer with these horrible things. I get them 4 to 5 times a week and sometimes they have lasted up to 3 days. But by trying to work with your doctor like you have hopefully you can find something to work for you.

I have tried Maxalt but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I had a reaction to it. But there is still hope. Some people have had luck with it. Hopefully this will work for you. Has been helping? I am sure happy that you found this site. Everyone on here are very understanding wonderful people.

Another thing you can do is have your family and friends check out this web site. We all will be happy to make them understand. So far we have 119 members. But this is only a small fraction of Migraine sufferers.

By the way I am your group leader. If you have any questions please message me any time. I will do my best to help. Again welcome and glad to have you as part of our family.

Take care and best of luck with trying the maxalt,

Lisa

Welcome! My daughter is 18 1/2 and has had chronic intractable migraines since she was 14. I just posted this on the NDPH forum...it is an awesome story.
