Hi everyone, I remember having my first migraine in grade school, I am way past that stage, lol. I have a headache virtually everyday, I'd at least once a week it goes into a migraine, usually I could take an OTC and sleep it off, however now they have gotten to the point where the OTC meds don't do much of anything any more. Now I am going to make an appointment with my doc and see if there is anything I can do about all this headache. What is the procedure some of you went through to get a med that helped? Did you have to have MRIs or anything like that? Hope everyone is doing weel today. Cool

Hi,

I am also new to the group and I saw that no one had replied to your post. No one replied to mine either so I thought we could respond to each other. I am sorry that you have migraines so frequently. Mine are every month or two but they are really painful. I haven't had an MRI so I can't help you with that answer. Do you see a neurologist?

Nope, I have never really told the doctor about my hadaches. I guess i should, I probably will I have a lot going on right now and will see him on Monday. What got me thinking about it all was that my little sister who is 17 was getting horrible migraines and getting no relief so she went to see and neurologist and had an MRI done. It showed that her migraines were from having slept funny (since she had had no head trauma) and kinked some nereves in her neck, right by her head. So now she has to have a nerve block done. THere is no preventitive for it wither, other thatn not sleeping funny, lol. I am sorry your migraines are so painful. Mine make me sensivite wo lights and sounds and make me sick to my stomach. Right now the OTC meds rally aren't giving me any relief anymore, even for regular headaches, which I seem to have everyday. I am kinda scared to have an MRI done, maybe I have a brain tumor...Just my paranoid side coming out.

Hi,

People always think the worst when it involves the brain, but it's very rare to have something serious. Just look at your sister. Maybe you have the same minor problem which could end your suffering for good. Try to think positive. Anticipation of the test is always worse than the real thing.

Hi everyone,

I am glad to meet all of you. I am sorry I have not answered anyone lately. I am your group leader. I have a lot of migraines lately. Which is not no fun. I get mine 4-5 times a week. I went to my doctor about it. She really listened. I did have 3 Mri's..... neck, head and thorasic spine. It showed that I have a bone spur on my neck. It is pretty large. But not big enough to do surgery. It pinches the nerves on my neck and back. I also get numbness in my back and pain in my upper back. My neurologist wants to do what is called a nerve block. I am a little nervous about this. I think I might have it done when I get laid off of work. It takes time to recover after getting it done.

I do notice that with the sudden weather changes they seem to get worse for me. Does the weather affect you? That is why I have not been on my computer. The lights really bother me. But none the less I am glad you all found this site. I have met a lot of wonderful and very helpful people on here. I think that if your doctor wants you to get a MRI ..please get it. I agree with Sally. The anticipation of the test is worse than the test it self. Also it can eliminate the possibilities and/or save you. If you do have anything like a tumor then you will know where you stand. No one likes to hear about anything like tumors but I feel it is better to know and hopefully have the option to do something about it.

When you get your MRI...try to stay positive. Thinking of the worst will not help. It will only make things harder on you.

Good luck with your MRI and keep us posted on how you are doing. Again I would like to welcome you both.

Take care,

Lisa Smile

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to hear of your many migraines lately. It must be tough to deal with. Weather really does affect you. I've noticed that I get more in spring and fall and less in the winter and summer. May have to do with pollen or something. Good luck with your future surgery.

Hi, I've been busy lately. My doctor told me to wait, since I have been dx with bipolar. He told me that the sleeping problems I have with being bipolar may be the cause of my migraines. I however know that will not help because I have had migraines since I was in grade school. They have just gotten worse. My sister has to have a series of nerve blocks or something similiar to that done. She has had the first set done and seems to be doing okay. She lives far away though, so all I get is text messages and talking to my step-mom about her. I hope everyone is feeling well and having a wonderful week! Wink Tongue

HI IM NEW TO THIS GROUP ALSO. I HAVE SUFFERED FROM MIGRAINES FOR A LONG TIME AND UNTIL THE DOCTOR PUT ME ON A PREVENTATIVE I WAS IN THE ER WHEN I WOULD GET ONE. ITS BETTER NOW BUT I TOO AM AFFECTED BY WEATHER AND IF I SLEEP MORE THAN I SHOULD IT WILL TRIGGER A MIGRAINE. I WOULD LOVE TO JUST ONCE SLEEP IN WITHOUT THE CONSEQUECES OF A MIGRAINE ATTACK. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM BESIDES ME?

Hi,

Yes, I have noticed that when I sleep too long sometimes I get one. I also get them if I am too stressed out, or eat MSG or chocolate, don't get enough sleep, strenuous exercise, after surgery, bright lights in grocery stores, some perfumes, or skip a meal. I used to get them with changes in hormones but not any more. The ER must have made it worse with the noise and lights. I can understand your pain.

HI

IT GOOD TO FINALLY TALK TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE GONE THOROUGH SOME OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE GONE THOROUGH. SOMETIMES WHEN THINGS ARE GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE OUT THERE ALL BY SELF AND GOD.
