Hello everyone,

Many years of sinus infections.. or I thought.. in the past 2 years have been diagnosed as migraines.

WOW!

Finally - my first Imatrex - I had relief within an hour. W00t

But sad to say, this has not lasted. I am currently reaching out because I have started Topamax because my headaches (with lovely photophobia and nausea) are now daily. Topamax helped for about a year.

Anyway So nice to meet you all Laughing

Wishing you a soft - light headed - lovely day! Silly

Hi,

I remember being put on every migraine medication available a few years ago but none of them could get rid of the daily headaches I suffered. Those were actually related to my jaw. Too much exposure to light or sun still does give me a headache though. The only solution is sunglasses I guess.

When I get my occasional migraine I take a Maxalt and it usually goes away pretty quickly, which is great. Laughing

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hello Shawna,

Welcome, I like Amanda use Maxalt for migraine and it works very well for me. I've had migrains with nausea most of my life, it's just the last years that they started affecting my eyes.

Hope you find alot of friendship and support here.

Hello Kardie,

How are the migraines affecting your eyes?

I just started to have blurred vision and they looking into a pituitary tumor.

They did find Normal Pressure Glaucoma - but they are not doing anything for it.

I am bit disturbed about this??Sad

With me it is like an aura before I get the pain. I get a weird sensation like looking at things through water, kind of wavey or sometimes I've had a circle of vision blacked out, like I can only see whats on the outside of a circle, if that makes any sense. In 07 eventually I totaly lost my sight.

From what I've learned the aura's can be different for many people. Take Care!

Actually I don't remember much after my sight went. The migraine ended up causing a seizure. Next thing I remember was when I woke in the city hospital.

HI Kardie,

I am very sorry. Are you still in daily pain?

Life can be so tough and - well - bless your heart!

Have you heard of the olfactory auras such as smelling stuff that is not around? I have phantosmia, they cannot pin down what this is from.

You mentioned you had a seizure was this related to the migraines? I ask because with my eyes, vertigo (daily) phantosmia and migraines.. somedays I wonder if I am headed towards seizures (even minimal)that could go bad.

Thankyou for any insight! ShawnaZ.

ShawnaZ,

No I don't get daily headaches, I go through spells with a daily dull headache like now because of all the bad weather we're getting but my migrains are being controlled well.

I saw my Neuro for the last time on Feb. 17, 2010. He did another eeg and has finally decided that I have Migranal epilepsy. He is quite sure that it was the Migrain that caused the seizure. He told me that the pain can escalate to the point of causing a seizure, and he feels if I make sure to get plenty of rest, watch my stress levels and controle the migrains I shouldn't get more seizures. He will see me again if I have any more problems but for now he's happy with me using Maxalt at the first sign of migrain.

I've also had bouts of vertigo, last time my Dr. treated it with Novo-Betahistine and I haven't had it since. Mind you that wasn't that long ago. I strongly feel for me the vertigo is connected to my thyroid problem. Everytime my TSH is off the vertigo seems to get bad.

Sorry I got so long winded. Take Care!

Hi Kardie,

Oh don't worrie about "long winded"... Wink

It is interesting - because if I can get pieces that can help empower me situation, well that is all good!

So you have a good Neurologist then? That is great!

Wish you a great day and many more! ShawnaZ.
