Has anyone been sent by their neurologist to a pain management clinic. While my doctor is trying every combination of medication he can think of ... and we are STILL waiting on whether or not my insurance will cover boxtox ... I'm really suffering. I am now having migraines very single day. I'm still having to go to work, take my kids to soccer games (do you have any idea how loud indoor soccer parents can be ... I want to kill someone during that hour!) ... I'm taking the drugs and even now taken injections to speed up the medicine's effect in my system, but I'm miserable. He is now sending me to a pain management clinic.

I've always thought that was for those that have had car accidents and have to live with chronic pain ... it never occured to me that a headache person would get help there. He did say there was only one in our Dallas/Fort Worth area that would help someone with migraines, so I guess it may not be everywhere. But I dont' know what to expect. Has anyone done this ... what do they do???

I had good luck with a pain mgt clinic. There are several options, nerve blocks and nerve ablation, both can give several months of relief. The doctors were able to narrow down the nerve that was causing my migraines and create a treatment plan that didn't have me so doped up that I couldn't function.

That is great. I hope it works and keeps working for you. My Neurologist will give me a nerve block but I cannot afford it right now. No insurance...boho. Hopefully someday and soon I can get it done. It sure would be nice to be free of these even for just 1 week.

What a beautiful thought. A day without a migraine. I can't even remember what that would be like. Work is crazy right now and I'm so stressed out that my headaches just keep building up all day by the time I get home I am miserable and in so much pain that I can't stand to be around anyone. Any noise at all is like a gong going off in my head. My favorite thing is throwing up in me my trash can. I'm sure the people that sit around me are really happy with me but the medicine the doctor gave me for nausa makes me to drowsy to work. I actual fell a sleep on a conference call once.
