MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

Well, tonight we are going to see the pdoc for my husbands monthly appt. Hopefully, everything goes well. There really isn't anything for my husband to change. The risperadol and lexapro seem to be the best combo so far in that they don't leave him spacey or drooling. He's able to enjoy more alertness than on any others in the past.

The only thing is that my husband may bring up his emotional baggage. I don't know. He's got some unresolved issues in his mind. He doesn't like to talk very much to anyone but me. He has to at work, but he never likes to talk on the phone. He doesn't even like facebook anymore and even though people message him, etc. I have to encourage him to answer them back. (Friends he's known from his hometown and even his relatives...)

The interesting thing is that he will talk to his pdoc about things, but his pdoc doesn't talk much either. And so they talk in this little emotional table tennis match:

Pdoc: How've you been?

Hubby: Okay for the most part.

Pdoc: What do you mean?

Hubby: Depressed some.

Pdoc: Look up, not down.

Hubby: Okay

Pdoc: Good, we will keep you on the current meds.

Tonight, I'm making a list out for my hubby to bring up. He will do it, I'm sure. That ought to add a couple of more lines to their conversation.....lol

YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT!!!! IF I DID...ANYONE CAN.

Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.” Lewis B. Smedes

I am not a doctor, my advice is purely my opinion.

Good luck with your appt. I hope it goes well for both of you. Do you think pdocs don't get into anything deep with their patients because they don't have time or because they don't think they need to know the details, or what? I hope it's not because they don't care!

I know what you mean, I think they are almost embarrassed about being there so they keep it to a minimum.

My mom who goes to a pdoc for her bipolar says its the only place where she pays $90 for a 10 minute "how ya doin, fine" conversation. Then they write the scrips.

Hope it goes well for you both.

Hopeful

It isn't my husband's fault he has an illness. It is his responsibility on how he treats it so he doesn't hurt others or himself in the midst of it.

My opinion, is just that, I am here to share my experience, strength and hope to those whose lives have been affected by this disorder :)
