Oh---I can imagine!!! What do you think you two will do?
All of my advice is based on experience and reading. I am not a medical doctor, and have never even played one on TV.

I know she wants to watch Avatar again. I think it's her favorite movie. lol. I guess her dad didn't buy it. Plus, she said she just doesn't get to spend that much time with me, and it's true. She's always working hard at her schoolwork. What is special about this is that she is willing to give up time with her dad to do it. She wants to ask him if she can stay with me while her brother and sister go. So, I'm not giving up anyone for "my" time, but she's asking her dad to give up "his" time with her.

She and I have had the hardest relationship of my three. Not sure what that's about. I blame myself, because I'm the parent, you know? I think too, it's hard because she's the oldest and I've had to learn how to be a parent with her. Neither of my parents were great at it. My grandmother was the best example I had. Her shoes are too big. lol. But I"m going to try to fill them the best I can, anyway.

I tell you, I"ve had a lot of angst surrounding her. I'm working on that. I think it says great things about the young lady she's becoming that she wants to spend that time with me. Smile I'm so proud of her.

It is the girl and her mom thing. IMO. Girls and their moms bond early on, but the separation in adolescence is more acute as a result. I have not seen Avatar yet, but I would see ANY movie if it would bring me closer to my stepson. I will watch ANY Tv show my godson watches to bond with him. I also try to urge the younger folks in my life to watch what I love--I totally succeeded in getting my godson to watch Whale Wars, Billy the Exterminator, and Dog Whisperer.
All of my advice is based on experience and reading. I am not a medical doctor, and have never even played one on TV.

I would agree, but this has been going on since she was really small. I had a very strange depression, post-partum. It lasted for years, and yeah, if I had OCD, it was very apparent then. I was also very paranoid. Strange, strange times, and it's for certain NOT how you want to feel after you've just had your first child!

Oh, I agree about watching whatever movie. Smile I took a chance on Chihuahua just because the kids had been wanting to watch it, and it was one they hadn't seen with their dad, yet. *rolleyes* I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was cute, and not nearly as annoying as I thought it would be. lol.

Glad you found some common ground with your godson. Laughing My kids LOVE the old-timey movies, and even watch things my parents watch. They LOVE Columbo and Monk. lol. Which is good, because I do too. Silly
