Hello everyone,

Decided to join the group due to the fact that I had a TAH/BSO in August 2007. I need a lot of support and symptom information. I look forward to meeting new friends!

Thanks for the reply because I feel like I am losing my mind LOL. I'm, of course, going through the surgical menopause since they took my ovaries. I'm on an estridol patch. But I'm either crying or very angry. I don't have night sweats and very few hot flashes. Any advice?? Should this be expected. Also, I'm very nervous and anxious. Appreciate any help.

How long have you been on the patch? Have you had your hormone levels checked? My guess is you are probably needing testosterone as well. These both need to work in sync with each other to be balanced and feel good. If you have your hormone levels, post them and maybe I can help. Of course, I am not a doctor but may be able to shed some insight. If you haven't had them tested, I recommend doing so. At the very least you should be have estrogen, free testosterone, testosterone serum, and thyroid tested. Ask you doctor for an actual copy of the blood test results. Different labs have different standards of measure so the ranges are important to know. Also, what is normal on paper may not be normal for you.

Let us know.

Nancy

Thanks Nancy,

I have been on the Vivelle Dot patch since last September (0.1 mg). No, I haven't had any blood workup, so I may need to call my GYN to set up one. Good food for thought, thanks.!

Yes, you absolutely need to have blood tests done. Don't forget to get a copy of the results. I actually keep a chart of my levels and when I get my pellets. I don't do the patch they would NOT stick to me. LOL

I know what you mean about the patches, mine get crinkled after a couple of days. But mine just look like clear band-aids! HAHA I think it's where they cut out tummy muscle that just won't go back to where it originally was that "rolls" them, at least in my case it is!

Hi Maxicat.....no, I'm not following you!LOL it may seem like it b/c we do share alot of common issues!

I had a hysterectomy in 2005 and am currently going through premature menopause from them removing my ovaries last Sept. I haven't tried hormone therapy yet! I'm worried that my other medications will react with them. I take so many right now and can't afford to be "groggy" all of the time with my children at home. My other medications do that enough!

Does it really help with the symptoms of menopause?..... Hot flashes and stuff? I get those really bad when I'm constipated and have to go really bad. Does anyone ever have that problem? It will last the hole day or longer....and I get very sweaty and feel like I'm going to faint!

What symotoms do you have? What have you tried to help them? I need any advice I can get!!!

Thank you all for the help! Your friend,Chris

Hi Chris,

I might be able to help too. I have so been where you both are. I also take a lot of medications due to an auto-immune disease I have. What meds do you take?

Yes the correct balance of estrogen, testosterone and also thyroid are crucial to our well-being.

First thing - and what I told Maxicat was that it's important to get a bloodtest to determine levels. Some doctors say a saliva test is best. My doctor says saliva tests are not accurate.

Plus, you've probably read my post about the bioidentical hormone pellets. Roy, asked that I not only talk about them, but I do know alot of information about hormone levels, symptoms and balance. Plus there is the thyroid which low thyroid symptoms have some things in common with the below.

Here are symptoms of low estrogen:

Hot flashes

Night Sweats

Sleep disturbances

Vaginal dryness/atrophy

Dry skin

Headaches

Foggy thinking

Memory lapses

Heart palpitations

Yeast infections

Painful intercourse

Depression

Low libido

Bone loss

Low testosterone can cause:

Global loss of sexual desire

Decreased sensitivity to sexual stimulation in the nipples and in the clitoris

Decreased arousability and capacity for orgasm

Loss of muscle tone

Diminished vital energy

Thinning and loss of pubic hair

Dry skin

If I can be of help, I'll be glad to. My passion is for women to feel great!

Nancy

Hello, any advice is appreciated. I didn't mean to exclude anyone. I don't know much about hormone therapies or menopause. I just recently found out (by accident) that my levels were extremely low. I need to fugure out what to do now!! How to deal with the symptoms and find the right treatment for me. Why would Roy ask you to not just talk about them?.... If you have alot of information to share with others, and it seems as if you do!!!

I will be here off and on to check on the information you post. I think it's great that you have done so much research and believe in your treatments so much. I get busy with other things and don't always have time to get to all of the forums. You can PM me if you want. I seem to get to those faster.

Thanks again for the information. Chris
