Hello everyone! My name is Melissa. I'm a 41-year old mom of three and grandmother of one. I live in So California and am just finishing up my first year of college. I have two majors: Public Policy and Creative Writing.

My one grandchild, Jacob, just died of strep B meningitis on May 16th. He was 1 month and 1 day old. My daughter and I are having an exceedingly hard time dealing with the loss of the this perfect little baby.

My daughter is only 18 so she's got so much she's dealing with right now. She blames herself because she has strep B (which she found out after Jacob was born) and it was transferred to Jacob when he was born. I guess that strep B caused the meningitis that killed him. I keep telling her it's not her fault but I don't think she believes me.

I know nothing about meningitis and we're all still in shock. I hope to get to know you all. :O)

Melissa

I'm so very sorry for your loss, I myself had meningitis streptococcal B at 14 days old. I was very lucky to make it out myself. I can really sympathise for you, If you ever need any information regarding this, please feel free to ask. I am very well educated upon this type of meningitis and can help you to understand.
