Hello everyone!

This is my first post here. I have not yet been diagnosed, I am going to a specialist at the end of the month for testing. I have dealt on and off with ear fullness and pressure, horrible episodes of vertigo, brain fog, ringing and what I call "shushing" in my ears for the last 11 years. I just completed a four day stint in bed with vertigo, ear pressure, stomach pain, nausea and headaches.

Reading about MD online was a big "A ha!" moment for me. It was as if pieces of a puzzle finally fit together. I had no idea that these things could be connected, and it was as if a veil had been lifted for me to finally see clearly what was happening to me.

And, I know this is a long shut, but I have Celiac Disease and was wondering if anyone had ever heard of a link between CD and MD?

Also, how do you pronounce "Meniere's"? I've heard two different doctors pronounce it two different ways. Is it "men-ears"?

Thanks for any and all help. I've learned a lot just by looking over these posts!

edited to add: I forgot to say that I also have periodic hearing loss, and just failed my hearing test during my annual physical. ( Thanks to brain fog I am always forgetting things!)

The only connection that I make with any tummy stuff with MD is that the stress of trying to maintain one's balance and such might irritate tummy issues.
God is good and I am glad

I am not a medical personnel. I share what I have learned through family and personal experiences along with searches that I have done of the Internet.

Hi,

Welcome. I get nausea but it is due to the imbalance and dizziness. As you know, 80% of our digestion system involves the immune system. Therefore, I strongly believe that our nutrition is a reflection of our health; however, I have not heard of any correlation between CD and MD, but anything is possible.

All my best,

Licho

Thank you for the replies. I know it is a long shot, as I couldn't find anything that suggested a link between the two. I was just wondering if someone had heard about a connection.

Thanks again!

Hey Dyl:

I have an intolerance for wheat. It showed up about 10 years ago. My doctor told me to give up wheat and my migraines went away for the most part (until MD). I also lost 20 pounds and my friends were jealous (until they realized I couldn't eat cookies- ha ha). I didn't read about anyone drawing a parallel between those two conditions until I saw your message, but it would be interesting to see if there is one. Hmmmm.... it certainly makes for a limited diet!

Thanks for posting,

-Jane

HiJane,

I too have an allergy to wheat, soy, and I am lactose intolerant and have lost 21 lbs. So there seems to be a link between allergies, the digestion system and meniere in some cases.

Very interesting.

All my best,

Licho

If you go online you might find a study between gluten free diet and Menieres. I think I read one a long time ago.
