Hello Everyone. I am about 4 months out from having the shunt surgery. It's been a rocky road, but I've managed okay. However, the last few days have been scary.....all the pre-vertigo signs are back. Ear fullness/tinnitus/hearing loss/distortion. No vertigo, but I am in a panic that it will come due to these other symptoms, which in the past always = vertigo. Has anyone experienced something like this WITHOUT getting the vertigo??? Any help is appreciated. The though to going "back there" is too much to bear.

I'm still fairly new to this having been diagnosed not too long ago. If it makes you feel any better, I have had "Ear fullness/tinnitus/hearing loss/distortion" for two solid months with very little vertigo. Of course I am too new to it to have had the shunt surgery yet. I hope your symptoms improve soon!

I too am 4 month post op from having endolymphatic sac decompression surgery. My doc. says shunt or no shunt results run about 65 to 70% good. I am afraid I am one of the ones it might not have worked for. I can hear my heart beat sound in my ear all the time and my voice to me sounds high pitched and robotic (not to others). Doc. says this means I still have fluid in my ear. I went back for the shot into my middle ear two months ago and that seemed to help with the vertigo but not the other symptoms but now I am getting vertigo again. I got away from my low sodium diet but now working on that again and taking my meds including lipo-flavonoid plus. My doctor wants me to take this at least 4 tablets a day. I buy it on line 100 tablets at a time or else it cost to much. I do not always remember however but working on that also. Hope May is a dizzy free month for all.

I'm an Advocate

Hey everyone....my doc told me that surgery was not a permanent fix... for anyone...and as hawaiiansea said... for those that it does work for...well it isn't promised.... i will have to get really really bad to agree to surgery...of course i dont fault those who choose to do so... sorry if i came across that way... i just meant for me personally.. Smile

this is a horrible illness... i dont know what is worse...the constant noise...or the equilibrium problems...or the vertigo... my kimmy is 26 with a 2 year olds mind...she needs mommy...and although she is no burden...the illness makes things tough...
