As I am sure you all know, even needing to look for a melanoma support group means that my day is not going well.

About 3 weeks ago, my husband saw what looks like a blood blister on my back, above and just between my shoulder blades. We thought it was strange to have a blood blister there, but it would not be impossible, so we forgot about it.

A couple nights ago, my back started itching so I reached back and felt an odd little bump. My hubby says, "Yes, that is the blood blister." At the time I thought it was weird it had not gone away yet. It started nagging at me, so I Googled it - and that is always a bad thing to do when it comes to health symptoms. Everything that came up in regards to blood blisters not going away pointed to malignant melanoma, specifically the nodular kind - which, from what I gather, does not have a great prognosis. So, I saw my doc today - When he saw it, the color kind of left his face for a moment. He asked how long it had been there, and I said 3 weeks. He said for me to get my rear end to my surgeon Monday morning at 8 am, no delays. The thing is circular, and looks like a blood blister - except there has been no trauma where it is, its been there too long for a normal blood blister, its 3 different colors, and it itches and hurts. None of these are good signs. Also, it looks like the color of it is spreading into the skin around it, forming a pinkish/purplish ring around it.

Anyway, my name is Olivia. I am 36 years old, and I live in Kirkland, WA (near Seattle). I have been happily married for 13 1/2 years to Bob, and we have a son, Bobby, who is 11. I also have two older children from a first marriage. We are also parents to two prairie dogs, Truffles and Daisy.
