Hi folks, I'm new here. My wife and I have the usual health problems associated with age. She is in fairly severe pain most of the time but the Dr. doesn't want to do anything because she is afraid "The Treatment" might kill her. One of our kids gave her a "brownie" awhile back and for the first time something worked. We live in a state where MM is legal so we will be getting our cards soon. The question I have is what strain is best for pain management. The cost of the bud is prohibitive so we will grow a small supply for personal use, also legal here. Just wonder what would be best. Any info will be helpful. God Bless!

First of all, welcome to the group. I'm sorry to hear that your wife is in pain. I just asked a similar question in another thread but it's good that you made a new one since I don't think anyone saw it haha. I am also curious to know because my marijuana is just the same one every month. I am in Canada and get the same strain from the government every month but I could grow it and obtain a new strain if someone said that X strain is better for pain. I found a list online but I'm not sure how accurate it is. You can have a look at it. I hope that others who use medical marijuana could let us know. I knew nothing about marijuana before my medical use so I'm still eagerly learning.

Please go down a few posts and you will see that someone made a pretty big list of strains and what they are helpful for. Keep in mind that this is from an Internet board so it is maybe a good start but the accuracy of the info remains debatable!:

Here is another site:

I have not read the entire sites so if you find something ''dubious'' in the content of either, please let me know.

I am not a medical doctor. Anything said on here is my personal opinion. Seeking help from a health professional is always for the best!

** I have a broad knowledge about psychoactive medications and the mind since I have studied psychology/therapy. Any information that I give concerning any medication is to be considered generic since everyone reacts slightly differently to any foreign substance. I do not fully know your health history/case. Any suggestion that I made which peaked your interest MUST be discussed with your doctor. Do NOT change your medication intake based on any information which was not provided by your doctor. All that we can offer on MDJ is suggestions to discuss with your physician.

Thanks Patrick. I have been doing some research and will try out a few. As I get more educated I'll share with everyone here. We all have different problems and what will work for one may not be the best for another. That is why I like the forums, lots of people sharing what they know. With that we all become better educated.

Marty

Well said, Marty. For me, it would have to be ''chronic pain'' strains I think due to fibromyalgia and maybe something for nausea due to gastroparesis. I will do a bit more research and of course have to see what I am allowed to grow. I will be calling Health Canada and seeing what they say. The last thing that I need is the police knocking at my door haha. As I test strains (if I'm legally able to), I will try to keep this thread updated. I hope that others can do the same and tell us what their pain is like and how the strain did for them.

Thanks my friend...My wife has severe Gall Stones but due to her health they won't operate. The MM gives her some relief and at least let's her sleep some. She had an Rx for codine but due to the drug laws here in the states it's too little and not often enough to do much for the pain. I'll keep checking here and also let you know what I come up with.

Ack. I'm sorry to hear that. I read that a lot of people compare gastroparesis pain to gall stones so I'm sure she can be in some massive pain. I have morphine and percocets and they do not help so I doubt that codeine would do much. I really hope that she gets her MM license soon and is able to get some relief! Living in pain is not fun.

The strains that I use for my Fibro are King OG for nighttime, and Bubba OG for during the day. They both have High CBD (Pain reliever) along with high THC. Both are Indica strains.

For when I get migraines or facial pain I use Blue Dream or Supreme Blue Dream. It is more of a head high but also has the relaxation of a Indica. These are both Hybrid strains.

I live in California and these are the strains that the research I have done have recommended. If you are suffering from Fibro or body pain you really want a strain that is both High in THC as well as CBD. If you have any questions please feel free to message me privately. I have researched a lot of things and been dealing with pain for a long time.

I hope everyone is feeling much better and will keep you all in my thoughts.

The best I have seen for pain is purple haze it works wonders one toke in the morning and one toke during the day and right before you go to bed. I am a pain managament patient and quite all the bull shit cortisone injections cause they were killing my diabetes. By the way smoking lowers my sugar numbers by at least 30% as well. So there for I have been able to cut back on two different kinds of insulin. The best way to ingest this is by smoking but eatting it can hold large benefits. Im not in a legal state so I have to be very carfull of my input. By the way Im not a doctor but I should be one in this business.
How can I be a doctor when I spend much of my time visiting them ?

If you live in a legal state thats nice and warm purple haze is your best bet you also got to keep in mind purple haze is one of the hardest plants to grow in all of the strains. But with some internet reading you can learn how to properly care for them as well to me I dont find it hard at all to grow I have this awesome green thumb. So if you want to grow a forrest of them and have the cash handy Im for hire lmao.
