Hi Gloria- When the issue came onto the ballot it was done so by being petitioned. I remember signing the petition and voting for the ammendment. Denver has decriminalized it for recreation up to 1 oz. Unfortunatley, the state law doesn't supercede federal law. Apparently the people's choices aren't honored outside the state they reside in, which I won't even get into bc it infuriates me. To answer your question Norml (the Illinois chapter is at http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=4535&wtm_view=chapter) is an organization that was really involved in what happened here in Colorado. There is also an organization called ASA (Americans for Safe Access) http://www.safeaccessnow.org/ that is involved in the legalization of medical marijuana specifically. I am sure there are people with both organizations working to get it on the ballot in Illinois in some way. If you contact them, they could probably use your help.  Hope this helps...
