Hi Jenny,

I just joined this group about a month ago and saw your post dated from way back when.

MDJ is a wonderful place and I hope that you have become the advocate you wanted to be. If not...well it's not too late!

How's everything going?

Hugs,

Kathleen

Hi guys,

I'm so new to this it's not even funny but would appreciate any pointers in running a group or putting one together that you can give. Smile Right now I have 9 & have trouble getting them to participate??? It can be frustrating! I'm slowly making progress by making friends with them through e-mail as suggested in Roy's advocacy e-mail/tips & have been posting/advocating for MDJ everywhere I can think of.

Did I miss something or do something wrong??? (with MDJ less than 2 mos.) Thanx for all the help. Smile

Dear Rosie,

I'm not familiar with your area but, no dear, I don't believe you're doing anything wrong. People in general are 'hesitate' when it comes to new things.

Take a break and think about what have you already done. Make a list of what you've already done and what you can do. Make a list of all the places you have put up signs already then make a list of places you haven't such as hospital bulletin boards, library, post office, doctor's offices, lawyer's offices, local fast food places. Schools and the list could go on. PLEASE PLEASE P:EASE be certain to get permission before posting any signs.

Those of us in the Parkinson forum all got together and designed a tee shirt with the MDJ logo on it. You can have a tee shirt made up and wear it.

Don't give up, Rosie. You're doing a terrific job. Keep us posted okay?

Hugs,

Kathleen

PS WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!!Silly

Kathleen,

Sorry it's been so long, I got knocked over by a sinus infection. ugh!

Thanx for the ideas & big welcom. Smile

I never thought about a t-shirt/sweatshirt. LOL

I'll hit my Laundrymat, Doctor's, etc. soon. Thanx.

The VNS (Vagal Nerve Stimulator) is a pacemaker put in that sends electric (small amounts) up to the brain 3 secs out of every min. to control seizures in Epilepsy. Then you can wear/carry a magnet on you & if you feel a seizure coming, hold the magnet over the pacemaker for 3-4 secs. & it sends up an extra charge to stop the seizure. It's fairly new in the USA.

So, I won't give up I just feel like it at times. lol I will get the sweatshirt this week-end though. Smile

Thanx so much.

Hugs,

Rosie

Dear Rosie,

Sorry that you've been sick.

I know what you're talking about now...my youngest brother's girlfriend has one.

How's the group thing coming along?

Since you are doing so much to help spread the word about MDJ, have you joined the advocacy group? I',m the group leader for that group and the members on that forum have a lot of info to share.

Best of luck with your group. Keep us posted.

Hugs,

Kathleen
