Hey! My name is Sarah and I'm 18 years old. I was diagnosed with Marfans when I was born as my dad had it and they looked for signs almost straightaway. Due to the risk of aortic dissection that comes with Marfans, I needed surgery at 13. I now have a metal valve and aortic root replacement, as well as being on warfarin. For the most part, Marfans does not interfere with my life. I am used to my routine of medication and trips to the cardiac clinic and do pretty much everything my friends do. I don't know whether it's my ignorance or lack of education on my own disorder, but I get a little scared reading things on the internet and in booklets, which is why I have avoided them until now. Marfans seems much more serious when reading these and I begin questioning my lifestyle and whether it's causing me harm. I would like to make some friends who also have marfans  that's enough from me for now I think. See ya! |
