Welcome to the forum....PainfulHappiness2308!!!

I too am on Atenolol..50mg 1x daily and of late, I don't feel it is working anymore for me. Like you, I have been on it for a good 10 yrs now! I truely think that after awhile our systems get so used to it, it doesn't work as well anymore and possibly....Fade from our bodies??

Do you experience pounding feelings in your chest? Is your blood pressure a bit on the high side?

I would maybe suggest if you DO have pounding feelings, I'd stay away from caffeine and other stimulates. And the only thing I can think of...of why your blood levels show Atenolol as non existant would be your dose is too low? I personally would go online and search for Atenolol and educate myself on this drug. In fact, I think I'll do that myself right now.

Good luck and again, Welcome!! [/u]

THANX!

at the time i was on 50 mg/day. after gettin the results back my dr. switched me to 50 mg/AM and 25 mg/PM but he has yet to check it again. i think its about time u switch to someone who actually knows what they're doin. i do at times feel my pulse racing and sometimes i can feel PVC's as well. i wore a holter but it didnt show anything at the time. thanks for the suggestion and i definately will do more research on Atenolol.

hey; My sister who is 28 was diagnosed at the age of 2 to be affected by Marfan Syndrome. They put her on Atenolol at that time [AKA tenormin] and she now takes 50mg 3x daily. It works best for her. :]
