hello everyone, i joined this group to get as much information about jaw winking...my son was diagnosed with jaw winking at 3 months old and the eye specialist did not advise us to do anything, he just wants us to observe his eyes developing. My son is now 6 months old and he is still winking when he is having a bottle and closing his other eye. I want to know if there are anyone who experienced that the winking goes away when their kid gets older..because the eye specialist told me that he might grow out of it or might be permanent.

hi there Smile sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you, i've had a heavy work schedule.

he might grow out of it, some people find that as they grow older, it becomes less pronounced. sometimes it is permanent. Also, if it did fade, it would be over years, not months. There really isn't much to worry about though, unless he had ptosis, which is a lazy eyelid, and can affect his sight in the long-term (but doesn't always). i think this might be what your doctor wants you to look out for - how his sight is developing.

feel free to ask anything else you might be concerned about Smile

i'm not a doctor but i have the wink and i know a bit about it through research and talking to other people who have it Smile
