MDJunction to me

Macv"For me, MDjunction has been a place where I can share my experiences
living with the very rare bone disease called Ollier's ( Enchondromatosis ) with the parents of children recently diagnosed. I can help them not to run
into the pitfalls my parents did when I was young, give them a bit of a view
from their child's perspective and simply be there to offer support and
hope to people who are scared and just had their lives upended. I also belong to a chronic pain group and it's been a Godsend to be able to actually
talk with others who understand what I'm dealing with. Besides them helping me through my tough times, I can be there to help them as well. Here too, I can use my years of experience to help others avoid pitfalls and it makes me feel good, gives my life more purpose. MDjunction brings people
together when their suffering, at their darkest and feeling alone in this world and allows some light to be brought back into their lives. HOPE, that's what
MDjunction means to me!

Someone I love very much has a small lump in his left breast, below the nipple. It is hard, but doesn't hurt. There is no change in the nipple area, no discharge. he found the lump and it was confirmed via ultrasound. He saw his family doctor, who referred him to a oncology surgeon. They are planning to admit him into hospital on Sunday, then do surgery on Monday. While under, they will do an immediate biospy. If it's malignant, they will remove the breast. If not, they will remove the lump. Details are few and far between, but I know this man so well - he's scared to death of doctors and hospitals under normal circumstances. This must be Hell for him. He's almost 65, in fairly good health - except for high cholesterol ( controlled by statins ) and he does drink and smoke, too much in my opinion, but he's a stubborn man. I am surprised they didn't do the biopsy before considering surgery. I wish I knew what to think.

yup, this sounds pretty close to describing my adventure with MBC. My right nipple inverted, and when I tried to fix it , I discovered a lump. At a physical I brought this up and I had a mammagram. Then 2 5 needle biopsies,so I had a week to ease into it. But I was horrified when I was first told, I couldn't even say the word cancer for 3 days. I had stage II B in my right breast. After 7 1/2 months of the whole deal, Mastectomy, chemo, radiation. I was back to work.. OOOH, if he hasnt had the surgery yet, tell the Drs to suck the crud out of his lungs whilst respirating him. They got a quart of junk out my lungs. I felt great when I came to. and have been on a roll ever since.

I was put on Cymbalta, a fast working anti- depressant, by my PCP. I an still taking a happy pill daily along with Tamoxiphen. They helped a lot. After a few weeks, I realized that I was having fun. MBC treatment is a great way to meet women. I started to treat it as "How I spent my Summer Vacation." A field trip to a modern hospital.

My Father had breast cancer too when he was in his 50's. He was diagnosed right away, and shipped through surgery, chemo, and radiation like a speeding train. He was diagnosed at a stage 3 and didn't have time to think. He is now a 15 year survivor. I know what you mean about hating doctors and hospitals..I am the same way. But when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2010, my only concern was my health. I am sure he's going to be fine.
