MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Valuable piece of advice from Betty Gordon, on how to prevent Lyme infection, especially now, as we're in peak tick season:

TICK/LYME season is in full swing. please dress appropriactely:

light-colored long-sleeved shirts,

long pants,

socks up and tuck your pants inside your socks,

walking shoes, a hat,

DEET spray, use lighter % for kids; NOT adult % !!,

light gloves if gardening/hiking, etc.

NO WALKING BAREFOOT especially your precious young kids!

DO A TICK CHECK each time you are out especially around the groin/crotch area, underarms, any area that has MOISTNESS! ticks love those areas.

we wish you a healthy summer/fall following the precautions i addressed above.

to those in ames area, i set up my LYME display friday, june 1, at ames public library; 1st time. if you're in the area during month of june, stop in and see it! i planned on a mannequin dressed the way i described above, but when i called sat; they GAVE AWAY their older ones to fire dept. for future fires! i'll check w/someone else tomorrow.

i'll also have a table education table set up after JULY 4TH parade as i did last year. Bettyg

Prevention is crucial, as Lyme Disease proves itself so difficult and painful to treat. Our hat goes off to all those struggling to educate the public and enhance Lyme awareness. It is indeed a very serious illness, it tends not to go away, it affects quality of life dramatically, it can be disabling, it can affect the nervous system and virtually any vital organ, but it's rather easy to prevent. So, please, be careful when you're out having fun, and beware of evil ticks!
