MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hi Hummingbird,

It's usually the other way around. People are being misdiagnosed as having fibromyalgia, lupus, MS, RA, CFIDS, chronic fatigue syndrome and a myriad of other mysterious illnesses when in fact they have Lyme.

I was diagnosed with FM in 2004. I really had Lyme. I got treated for Lyme, recovered from Lyme and now I don't have FM anymore either.

Peace,

Connie

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

FM is not a DX but a set of symptoms!

You have to find out what is causing yr Fibro!

Hummingbird,

I had a quack Rhuematologist who did every test under that sun, never listened to what I was saying, and told me, and I quote..."All I can give you is a grab-bag diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

It's pretty much what they tell you when you hurt and they can't find out why. It keeps them from thinking harder or digging deeper.

My Lyme doc learned about Lyme at a seminar, and heard it was similar to Fibro. He tested 100 patients out of his own pocket. 75 came back positive for Lyme disease.

It might be time to take another look.

Good luck.

Tom

I agree with the people who say to check out Lyme and other tick borne diseases thoroughly----- with a lab that is a specialty lab for these diseases.

FM is real! It's there and it can cause MUCH pain or problems. But it's not a disease, even though doctors can often 'run it through' insurance as such.

Some people with a "Lyme friendly" doctor, who doesn't want to have too many Lyme dx's on record (thank the insurance companies for THAT) will do that. It's not illegal. But it's skirting the real issue, which MAY be Lyme.

Or it might be other conditions that will give the FM pains. Not always Lyme----- but since this post is in a Lyme forum-------that's what we know the most about.

Just a heads up----not meant to be confrontational.
