300 MEDICAL CONDITIONS

RELATED TO LYME BORRELIOSIS

Frequently Misdiagnosed

Katrina Tang, M.D., HMD, founder and Director of Research at the Sierra Integrative Medicine Clinic in Reno, Nevada, states that Lyme disease eludes many doctors because of its ability to mimic many other diseases.

According to an informal study conducted by the American Lyme disease Alliance (ALDA), most patients diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) are actually suffering from Lyme disease.

In a study of 31 patients diagnosed with CFS, 28 patients, or 90.3%, were found to be ill as a result of Lyme.

Dr. Paul Fink, past president of the American Psychiatric Association, has acknowledged that Lyme disease can contribute to every psychiatric disorder in the Diagnostic Symptoms Manual IV (DSM-IV).

This manual is used to diagnose psychiatric conditions such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), antisocial personality, panic attacks,

anorexia nervosa, autism and Aspergers syndrome (a form of autism) to name a few.

List of Conditions

Lyme Borreliosis causes, mimics, is manifested as, is misdiagnosed as or is a contributing factor to many conditions.

fyi, Art Dougherty, Calif. has done a volume of research and had/has explanations of each illness/symptoms compared to LYME disease.

some of it has been taken down; some is still there. if you GOOGLE art's name, you should come across his MONUMENTAL work he gave the entire lyme community.

Thank you so much for compiling this list.....it is very difficult when someone asks how you are feeling and it seems like there are different symptoms to explain every time. Most of the time, even if I feel less than par, I answer that all is going well.

We appreciate your input

Suzie

Lyme Disease MIMICS other diseases

Below are a few diseases that people, infected with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, have commonly been misdiagnosed with.

Those having been misdiagnosed, after receiving treatment for Lyme Disease, their "misdiagnosed" disease or syndrome disappeared. This does not say that a Lyme disease infected person may not also have another disease. When Lyme Disease is suspected it should always be treated first to eliminate the infection and then whatever symptoms remain, if any, will become more clear as to what else requires treatment.
