I'm close to finishing a 30 day round of doxycycline and know I'll have to continue (I've been told with something intravenous) and was wondering in other's experiences what types of treatments have worked the best. I've been on a lot of antibiotics for many years, before I even knew I have Lyme and sometimes have felt better but always relapse. Would it be good then to look into alternative therapies and if so what might be good to consider?

Thanks all,

Jessica

Smee: I've just had an apostrophe.
Captain Hook: I think you mean an epiphany.
Smee: No... lightning has just struck my brain.
Captain Hook: Well, that must hurt.

this is so hard--there are as many treatments as there are Lyme pts---there are those treatments that work for a few and not many others.

Some are dangerous and/or costly others not but there is NO one good protocol that helps most people

you can look at www.lymeneteurope.org to see the many treatments, the problems with some of the alternative types and the good and bad about a lot of them

that site requires you to state the sopurce and where you read something ( except in Cafe where anything goes) so you can take the info there quite seriously

also a new book by a LLMD - he himself has Lyme--Ken Singleton--

The Lyme Disease Solution" is out and good--he goes over the better of the protocols, even including some alternatives

IMHO avloid Cowden--similar herbs to Buhner and way too expensive and not any more successful

Buhner is very reasonable and based upon solid science, as is Zhang ( who uses more asian methods/herbs)

treat herbs as medicine--as they ARE--watch for interactions and side effects and dont dabble without knowledge first.

IMHO avoid Rife and Salt/C and MMS--go to above site to see detailed reasons of dangers etc look into Marshall ONLY if you fit the profile of unbalanced Vit D ratios and you can tolerate the drugs they use ( one drug Benicar is VERY risky for dysautonomics)

Homeopathy has mixed results but its so basically harmless it may be worht a shot--Ive used various homeopathics for sinus etc and have had mixed results

HBOT ( hyperbaric) helps some, does nothing for others except empty the bank acct; and for a few MAY be dangerous too ( Chiari and other conditions)

and all of the abx protocols have various risks so make each decision based upon YOUR medical state, sx, tolerances, etc and work as a team with a very experienced medical professional ( and make sure they have training and credentials--so many Lyme people out there arent credentialed!!)

Good Luck

Finette
